that looks good. I wish i could just build my own stuff like from scratch (new worlds new textures maybe 3d models rendered at angles (i assume they do that like in diablo 2) though. that would really make for some interesting modifications. Question - why isnt img code turned on here or in aa forums? Just wondering, don't come down on me like a guillotine for asking, im sensative heh

i work with 3dsmax and lightwave but I would use any other modelling software. In those games like Diablo 2, they actually got 3d models of all the creatures but they aren't 3d in game like this game here you guys are showing. Its a mesh that they take renders of from different angles and then they use some other program i don't know much about all this because I do just 3d models for FPS games, but it sets it up so when the model say the amazon in diablo 2 shifts fromr ight to left or attacks it calls up those renders. its like a gif sort of but more powerful and I forgot the actual name of what they call it, it's a super gif though linked with tons of renders that are almost like cel animation. take a part diablo 2 and have alook. someone even posted the files at one point so you can see how its done and edit them...actually I might have the tool here and there's something probably very simular for all the 3/4 top down games. There is aprogram you can take your renders which you're gonna need to do in max anyway called Michelangelo, and you can create new animation frames with that provided you took the render of the visual otherwise you'll see it missing say when somethign performs actions. It's alot of ,0 coordinates etc. Like for UO i think it would save the animations as a .uop after you patched it. I've done it with UO, it's the same with diablo 2 as well but they use a different extension but the menu's the same. Anyway for this game I would need to know the f ile extensions for the ground tiles thenmake stuff in max then find a way to patch them to that extension and it would work. Iwouldnt mind making a city based visually on bladerunner. Thats just me though.
Back to that screenshot though. If you can onlt see that temple there at that angle then all I would need to do is design it at that angle inmax . If there is any animations like torch flickers or what not...no clue if they move i never played that game just yet...then Iwould have to take as many renders of the landscapes animations too. So if there's 12 torch flicker frames then render those 12 and loop it with the program and get it imported to a format that game reads and then just build with it.

hey post them on here. I am buying this game ...i put it off its been like super damn cold out but its getting warmer and I'll go grab it. Wanna test the maps. Lets have a contest maybe of mapping. We can talk on ICQ or something VF. I wanna play first with you so you can explain the game to me. I never really played rts's before other then starcraft and i cheated my ass off and I really don't want to cheat in this game although cheating is fun...I think in this, building and playing with someone who is just good might be more fun.

I'm really going to get this VF. Ijust have been working alot on my art and when i don't do that at night I am playing games. I was long awaiting Unreal 2 and have been playing around with that alot and mapping now again, so I havent had a chance to check this game out just yet I will get AOE but I swear to god you better play with me, i hate playing with strangers. I'll probably grab it this week although the new UO is out and I'm going to be on that alot too. SOOO many games, so little time.
Can you send me over , or anyone...a file I can actually open in max and photoshop if possible for the textures and one mesh - one piece of arch. something big. I want to alter it then send it to you and you tell me if it fits into the game ok before I buy this. I want to know I can edit the "playing field", if that is the case I will go grab this. Thanks.
