When i play Americas Army by computer starts making a strange whirring noise. Its fine when I am browsing the internet not playing a game but when I star AA and load a map it starts making whirring noses.
Is this something i should be concerned about?

Go to your hardrive manufactures web site and download the diagnostic tool to test it…
Usually ran from a floppy disk in dos mode before the computer starts .here is the western digital web site …http://support.wdc.com/download/

if its a new noise your hardrive could be going out.. if its old then could be normal some hardrive just make a lot of noise

i've only had this hardrive for less than 7 months. Its not all the time, just when i play americas army.

Drive: IBM 80GB Hard Drive 7200RPM

it sounds like a fan is screwing up when it starts to gain RPM..... when playing games your components such as your vid card, cpu, etc. start working harder and get hotter, thus fans that are temperature based (like the CPU heatsink fan) go faster, so maybe it's a crack in one of the fan blades or something that you can only hear when it goes abouve a certain ammount of RPM

i would double check all the fans, run some tests with the case off and starting AA up, hopefully u might be able to work out which fan it is. if its not a fan then run the hdd diagnostic as rought suggests.

I suggest you replace the fans because they seem be malfunctioning and could cause your pc to get really hot and stop working.

another suggestion would be to take ur side cover off and clean ur pC. You can purchase cans of air at any dept store or office supply store. Dust builds up on the fans ur graphics card fan etc ... and makes that sorta noise. I personally use an air compressor and a air gun with 2 water filters in line of course. Im not suggesting you do this as this is frowned upon but has never let me down and is cheaper than buying can air. IF you do choice to use a compressor be careful not to spin the bearings out of ur fans :P

or if you can't afford all that just take a deep breathe and go WOOOSH and watch all the acid go into your computer..... WEEEE!!!! but really like he said buy a can of air.... works great for getting stuff off fans

And if all that doesn't work, then firmly hit the top of your case with the top of your fingers when it's starting to make the whirring noise. It's not a pretty or permanent solution, but I have it too every now and then and it helps. Don't kick your case btw, but just give it a firm strike. ;)
