Today we are opening up the MPC portal. This should eventually replace the entry-page by taking people straight here instead of going through the html based page.
News and important information dealing with MPC will be posted here as well as the latest polls and post stats. With time new features will probably be added, but as of now there is no concrete time frame for that.
As you have probably noticed already your accounts are linked directly with the forum thus voting on a poll or replying to a news post here will take you directly to the forums where the appropriate action will be registered.
Now to run through the features that are currently active:
starting from the top you can see the welcome block which includes links to the User CP as well as your private messages if you are logged in, otherwise it contains the login boxes as well as a link to the registration
under that we have the MPC Radio block, this will contain info about the radio; if it is active it will contain the songs previously played as well as the song currently being played and a link to the built in radio player, if the radio is inactive it will say so (duh!) :P
next we have the news block which you are currently reading, if you haven’t guessed that I think my explanations might be in vain ;)
under that we have the 10 most recently active threads (either a new thread or one that has been replied to)
and finally under that we have the news archive which will list links to the last 5 news posts older than the 3 which will be fully listed in the news block (you will only see this when we have more than 3 news posts of course)
moving back to the top and a bit to the right you have the site navigation, this will contain more links in the future but for now there is a link to the forums, the forums archive, the downloads, and the arcade
next if you are logged in you will see the calendar
below that we have the top 10 posters
next is the “current poll” this is the latest poll on the forums
next the forum stats
and finally the forum search
You will also notice that at the top of the page there is a button linking you to the forums from the portal, and to the home page (portal) from the forums ;)
Now as you can probably see I got tired of writing this whole thing by the time I started explaining the features on the right side, so I think it’s best to finish off here before I start writing crap ;)
