Sorry but iv seen enough posts concerning this.
1. If you get an index file when you download Gunz Runnable, redownload it but save it with ".exe" at the end. That should fix the problem
2. This seems to be the biggest question among everyone that downloads GunzRunnable for the first time, but.....Place Gunz Runnable in "C:\Program Files\MAIET\Gunz" (default). The reason why you MUST put it in the Gunz Folder is because that is where fmod.dll is which is needed to run Gunz.
3. Make a shortcut for Gunz Runnable on your desktop
Hopefully this gets stickied, maybe it will help cut down on the "I get an index file when i download gunz runnable" or "it says something about fmod.dll" type posts.

(also note that i am only updating the GunzRunnable thread URL for the one that GunzDasher uses, when one becomes unusable, i will change it to work with the working one. In short, the GunzRunnable thread URL here wont exactly be the newest one, just the one that GunzDasher currently works with)

hey.if you simply save it as an exe, you'll end up with a corrupt .exe file
it's better to search around for a working link that links you to a genuine exe, yeah..

This doesn't deserve a sticky -_-
If you can't even figure out where to place it, you don't deserve to be using the hacks, and also, there's also a search button on your start menu, it's there for a reason. There should be a tutorial similar to this:
1) Go to your start menu
2) Click search
3) search for fmod.dll
4) Place where it was found
5) If you don't get it to work, go **** yourself :D

I got a tutorial similar to that but its for Forums ;), also the "go **** yourself" comment wasnt needed.

um... the ONLY Download for Gunz Runnable should be at http://cbwhiz.blamethepixel.com and nowhere else. Also, my GunzRunnable[08-30-05] is working fine and i saved it as a .exe, so dont give me that crap.

after seeing the dozens of posts/threads requesting help with gunz runnable, it might deserve a sticky. even better would be a sticky with an updated link to gunz runnable with this tut. but thats my opinion.

not necessarily..
sometimes, although people get directed to cbwhiz's thread itself, they might be prompted to download the script itself, that is, the index file. Rename it to exe and you'd prolly get a corrupted exe file.
however, if they actually got to the thread and dled the attachment itself, that is, the GR, then they'd get the actual executable runnable exe.
in any case, i've gotten permission to host the file on rapidshare. but it's only for those non-hackers to download, just so they could bypass the looping-patch problem.
and yes, CBWhiz himself said i could do so.

Well, the only way that you'll eventually cut down on the somewhat brainless questions that people have (ie: where to place the damn thing), is to have a thread like this explaining it. Otherwise, people will keep asking the same thing over and over again, and it gets kind of irritating when it was already discussed previously. Although, sure its a good idea, there is a BIG possibility that they wont even bother reading the sticky or even searching, as everyone knows.
Anyways, just posting my 2cents.
