hey guys this is just in case you didnt know this but i think its relevant. Stopsound does exist but in a diffrent command now here you go:
snd_mixvol ambient 0
typ ethat into your console and it removes all ambient noise from your game. It enables me to hear footsteps forever and a day away.
hope that helps.

sweetness , are you able to set the volume lvl of the ambient sounds? Because I still like to hear it in the backround.

My logical guess would be to change the "0" to a number you want, which would be, logically once again, 50 would mean half the volume. 40 would mean a little less and so on. Hope you got the picture! :bandit:
High the number = more ambient sound
Lower the number = vice-versa

Actually its 0,1,2

0=None
1=Normal
2=extreme amount

0 = 0%
1= 100%

anything in between .. use 0.xx

you can actually set this command way higher.. if you set it to 100.. the ambient noise gets crazy loud.. you can hear record players anywhere on the map..

only if we can turn up the volume of footsteps... haha

Hmmmm *rubs chin* How bout, replacing all the ambitent noises with blank files? Simply a no sound file would do it but are Footsteps Ambitent noises?

One more thing, can somone post the entire DOD cvar list?
..Cant find it anywere

Of course they did. That sucks too, I was having fun with my super hearing. And I hate the stupid ambient sounds, they are so annoying...

zooyork that is very possible and easy to do , you just have to find the files u want to change using gcfScape and then make the folder paths in your DoD folder

i did it in cs source to remove all silenced sounds with regular noises . i removed the loud and the highpicthed flashbang sounds. annoying sounds like bird chirping and junk like that ...

Does anyone know of a sound pack geared toward this for DOD? I know i had one for half life dm forever ago that was invaluable where the sound of feet on metal was accentuated and such.

Would be a ripper of a helper.

You don't need a sound pack.

Start -> all progs -> accessories -> entertainment -> sound recorder.

Now, unplug your mic and hit the record button. Record like 3 seconds and save it as a wav. Then go into your sounds in DoD:S and find the files you want to replace (deleting will not work because it will re-download them for you). Now clone your new 3 second file as many times as there are files needing silencing. Then simply rename each 3 sec. file to a different file to be replaced. Then put them in your DoD:S folder where your sounds are and click yes to overwrite... you're done! (that was mega detailed to avoid confusion)

Now: -IF-
If the file has to be the same size as the one it's replacing (I doubt it but it's possible) then simply make the file about 1 second over the time needed (it will most likely have to be the same second and tenth/hundreth of a second of the original) and use any music editing program to make it the exact size. Ex: If the sound is 2.73 seconds, the silent replacing file has to be 2.73 seconds; Not just 2 seconds or 2.7.

Any comments on this? I don't want to do this (I'm perfectly happy with the sounds) so y'all are gonna have to try it.
