CD Key

My Cd Key wont work!

I've entered it many times!

X- used intentionally

ive put it XXX-XXX#-XXX#-XXX#-####
which is my account key,
Am i doing something wrong? wont let me play lol until i get it to work....worked fine before I got comp formatted and W-XP

Where are you entering it?

Chances are you dont need the dashes inbetween the numbers. Try it without them and let me know.

When enterin your key manually into the registry, or even into a cd key changer provided by some groups, never include the dashes in between the numbers... Unless the prog specifically states to.

Ive tried it with dashes, with none, with caps, with lower, with caps and dashes, with caps and without dashes, lower w/ dashes lower w/o dashes...


Ive tried everything, yet still dont work.....Btw this CD Key is the one off my disc not some stolen one. It worked a week ago before i got my comp formatted shortly after.

ROFL im not an *****, I start up CS but before it even starts it prompts for the CD Key. I just installed it again tonight. I put in the CD Key, yes i type it in all right, and hit accept and guess what it says? it says Invalid CD Key!!!! pissin me off

yeah, I doubt that they can help you.... are you sure you're putting in the right key, I'm not saying you're an *****, however once I was putting in a cd key and i've tried it for about 20 times before I noticed what I was putting in wrong :p

Hey bellboy, i think ur problem is this:
XXX-XXX#-XXX#-XXX#-####

CD keys are only #'s and they go like this: ####-#####-#### << thats only 13 digits what u posted was either 19 letters/numbers etc... it can't be, it looks to me like that is ur problem, u also stated "Caps" which means u were definatly talking about letters, HL/CS cd-keys do not contain letters...

if he's asking where to put in his OWN cd key that he BOUGHT it is in no way illegal, CD key discussion is only prohibited if it is about illegal cd keys and not the ones that were fairly bought.
BTW you can use HL cd keys for CS retail and vice versa.

Try going into regedit and entering it in manuelly like that. Make sure you didnt write it down and is on the cd case, because I once copied a cd key down and copied it wrong or either was looking at another cd key.

go into the regestry if you're on a windows system (start => run => regedit) use the search function to look for sierra or valve (depends if you have HL or CS retail) then look for an entry, in those groups, called "key" click edit value and enter your cd key. Or just go to the MPC ftp and get a key changer ;)

wrong , i have 3 original keys , 1 cs retail , 1 hl-blueshift , 1 half-life normal . every key works with every game ONLINE !
