there's an easier way:

1. download d3d8.dll, put it in the maple directory.
2. open notepad and enter these lines in:
@echo off
start C:\PROGRA~1\Wizet\MAPLES~1\MAPLES~1.EXE
3. save that as a .bat file(e.g maple.bat). whenever u want to play maple, just double click on the .bat file and u'll have windowed mode. no need dxwnd at all ^^

works for all maple versions, even msea.

lalaman that doesnt work. I just tried to see if your "method" works. I download stuck the download in C:\Program Files\Wizet\MapleStory. Opened notepad, paste in

"@echo off
start C:\PROGRA~1\Wizet\MAPLES~1\MAPLES~1.EXE"

then saved it as maple.bat and I clicked it and I got an error that says

" Windows cannot fine 'C:\Progra~1\Wizet\MAPLES~1.EXE'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for file, click the start button, and then click search."

All you guys have to do is have d3d8.dll, right click your shortcut and delete everything inside "start in". now you have moveable window mode.

You just made me more confused. Why don't you start from the begining? So download d3d8.dll put it where? Then open ms.

Rache

Put d3d8.dll in Program Files\Wizet\Maplestory
On your desktop, right click the Maplestory shortcut, go to properties
You'll see "Start in: C:\Program Files\wizet\Maplestory" <--- delete that part, then start MS from the shortcut.

Not trying to revive old stuff, but MS don't start now with the d3d8 dll there and that line delted. Is it because mine uses a bypass?

did u install it in c:\program files ?
if u did u can try typing out the full path. it works for me and i'm playing msea.

Why are you guys going through such a hassle?

Just move your d3d8.dll file to your desktop and add a shortcut to your maple story folder. Open Maple Story and while GG is updating, copy your d3d8.dll file into the shortcut folder.

dudes just do what rache said, put d3d8.dll in the maplefolder, then make a shortcut of maplestory.exe somewhere, right click that and delete the line where it says : start in: c:\problaba

You didn't delete the line inside "start in". I get that error whenever I didn't delete it.

Rache, could you post up your d3d8.dll for download? The one that's in some other thread in here doesn't allow resizing at all, no matter what method. Pretty sure it's a different output file from 3danalyzer...

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it on an even older thread! :D

http://www.mpcforum.com/showthread.php?t=99883&highlight=window+mode

That is the working d3d8.dll file :)

all d3d8.dlls are pretty much the same lol anyway, if this doesnt work, you are doing something wrong, it still works

They actually are not.

The d3d8.dll files were created using 3dAnalyzer, so some work completely different, since different people would mess around with 3d's settings and get different output files.
I had one that was around 33kb in size, and when you ran MS with it, it would go as a window mode, but with no frame around it, and you couldn't minimize it at all.

The one I posted is about 14kb in size and it allows you to move/resize/minimize the MS window.

msea rev676 detects d3d8.dll, so u'll get a hack threat detected message if u ran d3d8 on rev676

Mine still works perfectly.

tat's becoz u running rev641 gg... those who didn't emulate a server to revert to rev 641... n running rev676... are unable to work the windows mode wif both lalaman's method or yours as rev 676 so called fixed tis window's mode thingy

Sorry to dig up so an old thread, but anyway i'm really interested in finding out how do i get my maplesea working in window's mode.

I've tried lalaman's method, it worked. Its appearing in windows mode but the next moment the thing jus got hung there (jus a transparent screen without appearing the entrance pictures[WIZET] etc) then it jus closed after awhile.

Any ways to resolve the problem? Help would be appreciated. Thanks

There are many different versions of the d3d8.dll file. I have three of them which are the exact same size (3,072 bytes) yet they're not the same. If I run a binary compare, there are several bytes different in each one. Therefore, some might work and some might not.
