Hi all,

Someone know if it is possible to modify separately the volume of steps and gun fire?
My idea is to enhance the steps and reduce the gun sounds. Make sense?

Thx in advance

If you change the sound of steps, it changes the sound of everyone elses as well as your own. So if you make them louder to here everyone elses, your own footsteps will be louder as well and probably just become annoying. To modifie the gun sounds will do the same thing. So I think it's pretty pointless to do...

I agree with JAvEX, it wouldn't give you a real advantage.

If you remove all the ambient sound instead you will have a great advantage by hearing steps, gun fires, players walking against barrels etc.

would be nice if there r different .wav files.. some footsteps for the cts and some for the ts.... then u can enable/disabel ;)

Figg

that isn't possible.

both the t and ct have the same footsteps changing them wouldn't be possible.

Maybe a bit offtopic... Bud is there a way to reduce the volume of Fire in the hole... Those sounds are quite too loud... I would like to here them very little... Is there a way to reduce those sounds?

therealStinkeR

yes, open the ct_fireinthehole.wav (something like this, but i am not sure)

And edit to whatever u want to.... :)

You find this wav in your "source sounds.gcf" i think... but lol, like i said before i am not sure

Ok I found a way to open the .gcf file... Is it illegal to point me to a program which can reduce soundlevels?

So I think it's pretty pointless to do...You cant be serious. Changing your footstep wave to be higher will not make everyother client on the server download your footstep sound. If this was possible you could **** with everyone in the game and probably crash there clients with a corrupted wave file. Maybe your thinking changing your sound if your the host of the server.

Find one in google...

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=sound+editor&btnG=Google+Search&meta=
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=editing+sounds&btnG=Search

-edit- omg Xmd. Learn to read man. I said if you change the footstep sound, it will make your own player footsteps sound change as well as the footsteps that you hear(your enemy, your allies). So if you make the footsteps sound blank, you won't hear your own footsteps or anyone elses.

rofl.

JAvEX is right.

your the one who can't be serious. if you read properly you would get it. kiddy.

changing your footsteps does effect all the players client side. so if you make yours quieter it makes all the people you are playing with quieter.

it doesn't make it serverside it is like saying coloured models.

you put them in but does it colour everyone elses models? No

Ok great... My sounds are horny now :classic:
I used GCFScape to extract those files... Afterwarts I've edited them with mp3gain :) Bud now I need to replace the older ones... Bud you can't put files back with gcfscape... Is there a kinda trikck for?

therealD4RkSouL

put the sounds folder insidre ctrike

J
9th March 2006, 15:55
@bl44t. It works just like replacing textures. Basically, put it in the cstrike folder and in the same "place" that it was in, in the GCF. example: cstrike/sound/ambient...

A great thx I get it :) Thanks for your help... I've also reduced the volume of the awp.. And al the useless radio coms... If someone would like to have them too I can post them here... Thanks for your usefull help Javex instead of just "put them in your sound dir":x

J
9th March 2006, 16:06
No problem. And yes I am sure people would like to have radio sounds reduced, personally I don't mind the real ones. But you should make a "[Release] Lower Radio Sounds" thread, or something like that...

When sounds are louder do you here them from a farther distance? Perhaps it's usefull then to edit the bombplant beeps and bom def beeps so you can here someone in defuses when your in the darkhalls at d2

J
9th March 2006, 16:11
Yeah, I think you would hear them better if you made them louder. That would be a good idea to make the defusing and planting bomb/beeping sounds louder. :P

New prob.... Guess something went wrong...

*** Invalid sample rate (32000) for sound ')weapons/DEagle/deagle-1.wav'.
*** Invalid sample rate (32000) for sound 'radio/ct_fireinhole.wav'.
*** Invalid sample rate (32000) for sound

Found the solution it are 8 bit sounds with a frequency of 22000.... Just in case someone wanna know

Figg
9th March 2006, 17:01
bl44t are you gonna release this stuff

coz to people i can see this being quite useful.

kthx.

So there is no way to edit "walking footsteps"? Bomb beeping, and defusal sound editting could be useful. I just have a hard time seeing where they are with GFCScape.

Open C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\counter-strike source shared.gcf

Then go to sounds.... Extract them, edit them, make them the same rate again.. Put them in your

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\***\counter-strike source\cstrike\sound
Directory and it will work

I used dBpowerAMP Music Converter and made the footsteps 8-bit and 22540 freq and they're not any bit different.
