I just took the skins (player models only so far) and copied them, then renamed them to match the 2 new R2R army types - the Italians and the French. It worked perfectly. The new vehicles will take some more work though. There is a site that you can find a photoshop plug in that allows you to directly modify the .dds skins. It shouldn't be too hard to just re-color them.

Extract your texture.rfa files into the install directory (make a "texture" directory in the install directory if it doesn't do that automatically), and also do the same for the "texture.rfa" files for the expansion pack -R2R. From there, you can alter those .dds files any way you want to. Don't forget to rename both of the original texture.rfa files so the game won't use them.

Ok, I extracted the textures.rfa to C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\xpack1\Archives\Textures . Then I copied the player skins from toad's skin hack and renamed them to the Italian and French player skins. I then removed the Textures.rfa I tried running BF and I get a "failed to connect to server" error. Am I missing a step here or something?

Your textures should be extracted to a directory called "textures", but you are putting the directory in the wrong place. It should be placed C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\textures.

You will have to also extract the "textures.rfa" from C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\mods\bf1942\archives directory and put these files in the same place --> C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\textures

After you extract all the texture.rfa files, rename them to texture.bak and you should be able to run the game.

I did what you said, and renamed the textures.rfa for both and all my textures are white now.

I guess I need to talk to Toad, sence it's his skin hack I'm using to begin with for 1.3. Which by the way is a cool skin hack. Thanks Toad.

Anyway, I'm using Toads skin hack, and all I want to do is add the couple moded Italian and French helmets to what's already there. How do I go about doing this?

put all the skin hacked textures into a new rfa file. Then do as I said in my previous post. its the same exact thing in 1.2 vs 1.3.

I described how all this works in this post. http://web1.server126.notraffic.de/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=83496#post83496
