RealNetworks has begun pressuring Linux distributors to into incorporating DRM into their distributions. RealNetworks vice president said at LinuxWorld Boston last Tuesday that unless DRM started being incorporated into Linux distributions Linux would die out and Windows would become the only multimedia solution for consumers.

In response to this several of the more corporate Linux distributors such as Novell (SuSe), Linspire, and RedHat have said that they are planning on incorporating some of the more popular DRM formats into their future releases.

Linux is open source, they could remove it if they wanted. And Linux will not die anytime soon in the foreseeable future. You can't just threaten that something will die.

Pirates will buy their software more if there is no DRM.
