A man in Berlin flushed about 30,000 marks (which is about $19,000 US dollars) down the toilet beleiving that the mark was worthless now because of the Euro.

This was discovered when officials were allerted of a blocked pipe in the area, when a cleaning company worker pulled out a bunch of soggy banknotes from the pipe while cleaning it officials started trying to find out what was going on.

It was later found that the man reported a blocked drain at his house on the same day. When officials arrived to his house they found another 30,000 marks and 14,000 euros.

Police escorted the man to a bank where he deposited the money into his account.
