Why did I post it here?

Many chips have cooling circuits nowadays, but these require pumps to drive the coolant, which in turn generate even more heat.

Suitably micro-patterned channels, argues Dr Linke, would make the coolant flow automatically.

'It would be very neat if we could use the heat from the chip to be the pump, because you would not need any additional power, but also because the pumping only happens when the thing is warm; it would also be a thermostat at the same time. So it would all be in one package.'"

In a few years, computers we might be able to push CPU to the very limit without worrying about it overhearing! :x

Not very useful for cooling a CPU - has to be extremely hot for the water pump to work.

Interesting story, although it's been achieved in the past through older mechanisms... Archimedes, Leonardo Da Vinci, and others later on in the future have been coming up with their own solutions to producing such results. This however seems like it may be the next step.

rofl, u must be a tech bof :P

interesting story but doesn't really bother me, you can just use water cooling and make sure pump and resevoir are outside of the case

So what, they've been doing that at Knott's house of mystery for the past like what, 20 years?

I know how to make water travel uphill:

Step 1: Stand up.
Step 2: Find an incline.
Step 3: Walk up said incline.
Warning: Step 1 and Step 3 should not be performed by anyone who even knows how to properly type in the URL to this website without first consulting a physician. Doing so may cause undesired effects such as loss of breath and/or time spent away from the internet

Thats stupid.
Just get a vapor coolant with a separate supply of power.
