Here is a little somthing i tweeked. All footsteps are now louder than before. Also within most custom maps all ambient sounds, background noises, are gone.
Place these files within C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\**Your Name**\day of defeat source\dod\scripts
You can tweek them yourselves as well, just open a file and add bigger or lower numbers just to the Volume section wherever it says it. I'm not resonsible for any messups.
If you need help PM me.

It's about 1 1/2 times louder, which might not be enough for some. You might want to change the volume noises on the footsteps. I believe stock is volume 1.5 i changed them all to volume 3.0. If you look through the text files look for where it says volume 3.0 and change them to your desired volume.

I don't have a scripts folder in my DOD directly, do I have to create one? or am I looking in the wrong place?

Yeah mine doesn't work either, maybe you hae to put it into DOD/materials/scrpts
instead of dod/scripts?
Can someone tell me where exactly they put the scripts folder where it worked?

it works fine, just do as it says.
there isn't a massive difference in sound, which is why you probably dont notice it. definatly workds though

Like i said you can go through the scripts and change the voulme sounds yourself. There isnt much to change, but the footsteps are a significant part of this release.
You should put them in the dod/scripts folder. If they don't work then you must have done somthing wrong. On the stock make you will notice that their are no other background sounds other than footsteps. You will notice them.

What I did notice is that when I pull up my console while playing I get a whole bunch of red error messages that say something like "our of range sound 1.8XXX or something.
So I wonder if the server limits your sound or something, that is why it is giving me this error. Just pull up your console while playing you will see this error like 100's of times.
What is this?

Yes you will get those error messages, but it's nothing bad. Don't even worry about them. Also if you can't get it to work then i'm sorry i cant help you. Even a 7 year old can read rules and be able to get them to work.

how can i put the volume of the weapons down?
Holz
16th February 2007, 16:45
Replace the sound files with quieter ones or edit the volume values in the weapon sounds txt.
You can find both in the Day of Defeat: Source GCF file.

Is detected by vac?
Holz

VAC does not ban for custom materials, which also includes sounds.
This is completely legal.

Thanks Holtz!
But I have another question how can I add some sounds from other maps for example map expire (opened with Scape) it has sounds ambienceexpire.wav and flyby1expire.wav to be silenced ..???
Holz
21st February 2007, 20:38
So those sounds are embedded in the map file, right?
Hm, can't think of a way to modify them in that case, sorry.

it works great. but i have one question. what can i do, that this 'hack' works on other maps? ( for example dod_lennon or other.)
must i only copy a file like "soundscapes_dod_anvil2" and write it to "soundscapes_dod_lennon" ?
does it works on other map, without writing a file for it?
