Anime: Good vs Bad

good it was what i was brought up to draw like, the style. there's nothing bad about it crazy man heh

american comics and art is bad i think. they need a few guys to do one thing that a manga artist can do all by themselves. lazy. Plus yu guys that watch maybe toonami see the worst stuff. plus its censored and chopped up and nothing like the originals they showed in japan. Wait until Cowboy Bebop the movie hits the theaters (soon dubbed unfortunelty) but its a great movie. They postponed it years back because of 911 since the movie has to do with terrorism, bio and theres explosions and people dying. th storyis great theres some spiritual themes in it too. Not talking about any relgious stuff either, i mean deepr meaning for yourself and nothing more then that. Plus they animated spike doing his kung fu more amazing then 20 american kiddie cartoons stacked.

Lol, my brother is obsessed with it, and he made my family watch some movie called "The Grave of the Fireflys". He said it was depressing, but I just can't relate with cartoon characters. Can you relate with the coyote getting anvils dropped on his head? Do you feel sorry for him then? I think that they both are the same thing, and I can't feel any sympathy for cartoon characters.

I dont watch cartoons. Cartoons = Satan. ESPN/Sports = God. Then again, Im atheist..

japanese anime is based on chracters with depth not silly animals (not the adult ones) just the kid ones like pokemon. Tex avery abd those american animators sucked. theres no story, noshred of character depth or nothing. In japan they watched some stiff as primetime tv. good series. youhave a totally wrong idea about it. The characters have depth and you relate and they go places and its not silly like bugs bunny. Trust me, you havent seen the good stuff.


Plus take your comparison to real movies and tv. Theres good films like Road to Perdition, Fight Club, Matrix etc then theres slapstick comedy. Same goes with animated cartoons. theres real stuff with depth and meaning then theres joke stuff like road runner and tom and jerry.

cartoons are not satan. Some sports are lame unless it a bloodsport /martial arts. Thats true test of the body in way unimaginable (dont look to hollywood film for answers here)


This topic is bad and touchy. Its a HATE poll. A legit poll would be what anime - which series do you like or Anime or American Lame ass cheap production cartoons. But saying its satan which was my upbringing is wrong.

Lol, I probably have seen "the good stuff". My brother forces our family to watch his collection. Its crazy. Come on though, how can you feel sorry when you see a little cartoon character, whether it has a depth of character or not, die? Maybe Im just evil, and don't have feelings.

Im getting frustrated, so I gonna go do something else. Im still gonna check on response however. Homework, thats what I'll do..

I disagree that this is a HATE poll. We are only two people that have been posting so far, and we both have different opinions. Once more people start to post on this poll, we'll find out whether it is a hate poll or not. But from my experiance on MPC, I have found that most people do like anime. I don't think its unfair to post this poll, and if you wanted to start the other poll, it would be unfair to those of us that don't watch cartoons. Now then, back to homework..

Feel sorry or care like a good book thats how. A good story is a good story. trust me you havent seen the good stuff. the good stuff is still running on TV in japan and isnt even domesticated yet. Matrix was inspired by anime the guys straight out said it plus they have animatrix onthe website to dl (ep 2 is out). Boy, reading and anime and even a real hollywood movie...its all the same. story not real. you got to get involved inthe story and have some heart.

Nothing against you, you and I get along fine for sure, but this is kinda not cool to me. Its a major artform where i came from, how i learned plus I am an artist as is. Ahhh - crazy.

If you have nothing good to say about something why make a poll against it at all? You might as well change the polls name to hating japanese culture because this is one of their major aspects right here. Its like the anti cheaters who come here, they cant hack or find cheats so they flame. You cant draw or write creative and add a visual medium to that story so you put it down in a poll that is not postive, but negative.

Drawing is a creative skill, cartoons are a result of that, hell games you play the animations are the same way, not cel animation but KEYFRAME whichis in both. Only in cartoon they have people that do the inbetween frames called inbetweeners, and in say Character Studio for 3dsMax, all these games are animated which Key frames learned from animation (look it up) and then they program generates the other frames in between the keyframes.
Your condemning so much with this poll and what you said.
Even the BIG BIG hoolywood filsm that use tons of cgi. all keyfframed (watch the second disc for Attack of the clones they show it, or Blade 2 or spiderman. monsters inc or any cgi done in any film with high high poly modelling.)

Ok, I see your point, and I apologized. Cartoons aren't satan. I just don't prefer them. How about this? In my opinion, anime is not the best type of thing to watch. Is that better?

well leave the forums and remove all your games from your pc since they use keyframing in the games which is computer animation which is based on cartoon animation. After all it is "bad" and "satan" to you. Luckily you dont need 500 people doing the inbetween frames for cgi but the basics are the exact same and thats what it evolved from.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I didnt mean to have it as negative. That was not the point. I was just wondering what other people think of the type of movie that I saw last night. I didn't like it. However, other people, such as you, might love it. They are two different opinions from two different people. I don't expect everyone to agree with me. In fact, I expected most people to disagree with me. I thought that if I did that, I might change my opinion on the movie that I saw, and enjoy what my brother enjoys more.

well your watching bad stuff. i could show you good stuff but its not going to run on any dvd player you have unforuntely. Different region type. all the good stuff hasn't been domesticated yet. The good stuff that has been domesticated they ruined it by cutting out important sceens or entire episodes, changing the script, stupid voice actors, revamp of the music(sometimes) etc


if you wanan know whats good dont let other peoples opinions sway you , go research it and then try and find the good films and watch them. theres so many titles , so many themes, you're bound to find one if you go looking on your own. Those popular anime sites out there are so far behind in times with the newer good stuff, so you better be able to read japanese or something.

I personally dont like neon genesis because of the ending. But thats been in america for years. theyjust finally started showing it on toonami but the dvds have been out and you can watch them subtitles. doesnt matter, they subtitles in alot of these are wrong to what they are really saying. they got bad translators or something. I wouldnt recommend NGE at all though. What themes do you like then I will name something thats out at least at a dvd store in dubbed or subbed.

Well, as you probably know, I don't like much anime. I can't name specific themes, but my brother enjoys cowboy bebop, evangalion, and some others. I would go find out which, but I don't feel like picking his door.(its locked) He literally has about 60 DVDs of this stuff though. The biggest selection I have ever seen outside of a store.

i have over anime 380 dvds (discluding the vhs stuff i still have)and thats not counting the regular films i have on dvd. I probably got almost 200 regular dvds.

I was born in japan, so yes of course I love it. I am an artist to so I draw and I animate and I did vote. I hate this poll its negative.

Edit-it is a hate thread. See it from my point of view. I dont care though, fine. People say the word "noob" to another poster here and get slapped on the wrist but this kinda poll goes un-closed.
