Searching values with CE

I asked about this once before, and someone told me to look at the CE tut. i did this and i still cant figure it out. how do you search a value? i want to make my supportive skills freeze. but to do this i need to get the value to search for it. can someone tell me how to do this. it would be greatly appreciated.

Search for unknown, activate your skill, search for has changed, wait until your skill desactivates, search for has changed, and gooooooooooooo on.

do i keep doing that over and over till it says "found: 1"?

theres a great tutorial over at cheatengine.org forums that tell you how to find most of the common addresses you find around these days.
