Thursday, July 06 2006

Starting tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. PDT, everyone with a Steam account will be able to play Day of Defeat: Source for free until Monday at 1:00 p.m PDT. We ran a similar event a few months back that introduced a bunch of new people to the game. Given the recent release of a completely new game type, it makes sense to open the door again so everyone can check out everything in the Summer Update. Folks can start preloading right now and be ready to go the moment it begins. For veterans of Day of Defeat: Source, this weekend would be a good time to jump in and help familiarize people with the game.

Start Raging!
- Get VAC'D? ( Make a new Account! )
Take screenshots and demos!

Have fun!

I didnt like DOD, I still have it, the recoil is way to unrealistic

thanks for pointing this out 'leethacker' we were discussing this in IRC earlier.

Unrealistic? WW2 was not properly trained soldiers was mainly grown men from normal houses so they wern't gun trained hint the big recoil that's meant to be the idea and theme about it.... so it is realistic, there not trained marksmen/hitmen.

WW2 guns didn't have anti-recoil systems like guns do today. Nowadays, guns are not just metal tubes nailed onto wood, they have all sorts of inner chamber fortifications as well as counterweighting and a heavy body to help with recoil. Back then they were just tin cans that spewed out crap that could kill someone.

Yes I understand that much, It's common sense, but I've witnessed and fired several of my uncles WW2-era weapons and I've got to say I'm no trained soldier or marksmen and I didnt recieve nowhere near the same kickback as the game shows. But then again I guess if your in a place you've never been in your life fighting and watching your friends die around you it will make you a bit nervous ;o

The game begs to be hacked, anti recoil FTW.

When the DODS free weekend ends you will not be able to continue playing because you don't own the game. You haven't purchased the game so it's not registered to your account. It's a free trial period. You only have the .gcf files downloaded. When the free weekend trial period is activated DODS will be available to play online on new, blank accounts. When the trial period is over DODS will not be available on that new, blank account. You won't be able to launch it. In the Steam games list the status will be 'Pre-load complete'/'preloaded'.

Oh okay, thanks man.

Personally, I like DoD 1.3 better.

Omg - do you wanna say you evil uberhackers so you can play during 'rush hour' (mostly around 7 pm) when Valve's auth servers are overloaded and not able to tell the server if accounts are blank or not? :ponder:

Lol, noone is playing DoD:S, so they have to resort to these free-play weekends more often. I still won't play it though, still like CoD better.

I can't understand that noone is playing dod:s
I love this game, but unfortunetly there are no working hacks out there.
Maybe that is the reason why people play css over and over again.
In my oppinion dod:s is way more taciticaly then css.
