I like techno too but I also have a goth/darkwave band and work hard as a musician to do the music I like, so how can that suck? Techno is cool for certain things. I think if a song moves an individual inside, you know speaks to their soul whatever style it is...then that is all that is important.

I like techno too for dancing and just chillin but it doesnt connect with me the same way a human voice over a guitar chord can. Plus i like to sing and you dont get much of taht in techno.:git:

Wahoo Rock is still King! I just bought a set of cds called the secrete history of rock and roll and its a bunch of ex slaves singing and wailing the blues. Then it moves up chronologically to the 50s when the more rock sound emerges. Is so soulful and real and you can see how that music totally influenced todays music. technos slick sounding but sometimes it seems cold and mechanical. Good for dancing though cause the beats are so exact you know exaclty when to move. Gotta give props to rap though.

50 cent= even though he mainstream now hes still sic.
Eminem=overated
Snoop DOg= all time master
Mystical=could be a heavy metal singer with that voice

yeah.. i was bored and i came across this poll and i just wanted to say that i love rock mainly... like System of a Down, Metallica, Pantera, Down, Mudvayne, Kittie, Slayer, others. but i like techno too and rap (techno more than rap), rap being DMX and 2pac. But i got a ton of songs on my playlist.. last time i saw it it was in the thousands.. so i cant really name a favorite favorite band or anything... and if you see me online on irc or in a game feel free to ask me what song im listening to!

i live with a well known Jungle/Drum'n'Bass producer/DJ, and i have to say, even b4 i met him, i've been a jungle head for around 5 years now. d'n'b is the shizz.
)E|3( recordings!!!! i'm a big Dom + roland fan. but even before that, i'z wuz raised by hippy mom, so i got mad Zepplin/Floyd/Joplin roots. but i'm not a hippy, thats all my mom. she likes Alice Cooper alot too :) i've got my own rootz sown as a metal head though, and yes, even at one point long ago when i was 15 till i was 18, i liked alot of Industrial. i still love Skinny Puppy, i have an Einsturzende Neubauten tattoo that i'm stuck with, and i still dig some nine inch nails every now and then. i likeD a little europian industrial, stuff like Laether Strip, just nasty heavy stuff. i cant really get into that stuff anymore. i also like RUSH alot, the drummer is the shizz! and my absolute favorite band if u cant tell: TOOL

well, where do u live? if u are talking about the USA HBO eps, they come on late at nite. i have a ton of UK eps and US eps on my pc here if any1 wants to see'em. Ali G is the man, and he's a Jungle/D'n'B head!!! one of my favorite classic jungle toons is on the intro music to the show, Ganja Kru/Dillinja's Twist'em Out!!!! i think the season is over for the US HBO eps right now, with 6 or 7 episodes for this season. but he will have more on HBO, trust me. he also has like 5 or 6 two hour movies: Ali G's InDaHouse, Ali G's INNIT, Ali G's *Bling*Bling*, and a few others. i recently found out that book he talks about on his website is fer real too, Ali G's "Da Joyz of Bonin", which explains how to get laid proper in the back of any small vehicle cramped for space, how to get laid proper in the restroom of Kentucky Fried Chicken, and many more very usefull bonin' tips.

the Streets are very nice. i dont normally listen to garage, which is what most of -the Streets-'s beats are, and they lay the beats down nicely, dont get me wrong. garage is slowed-down jungle/d'n'b. i have to say, they are getting somewhere very fast, they just need to watch that they dont sell out or fall off the planet out of the blue. -the Freestylers- got big like this with some tite tracks, but fell off outta nowhere. will -the Streets- ever be as big as Roni Size & Reprazent? hellz nah, they'll sell out first, and their mc/lead singer will go to rehab b4 they get as big as Roni Size and Reprazent. Roni Size & the Full Cycle crew are still bangin', even though they did step down from the main-stream scene a little while back, but thats just so they wouldnt sell-out!!!

so you dont like it when people sing fast? Thats all rap is. Rap metal they shoot off the lyrics real fast as loud as possible. Alot of new rock bands seem to incorporate rap.. ie: limp bizkit, linkin park. Sometimes the difference between punk rock and rap lyric delivery is only distinguishable by the beat and word content. I think its cool when bands are willing to use any media to translate thier message and still maintain thier own unique style.:bunny:

Just picking Rock would've been to broad. That might imply that I like Punk Rock, Alternative Rock, Pop Rock, and Sell-out Rock. However, my rocks tastes are for the most part limited to classic hard rock and progressive (art) rock.

well it just depends on waht you thinnk new is. I think thier style is stiil current with the new wave of rock and roll. Linkin park has been out for a few years too. Of course most bands that you hear about that are just releasing a CD nationwide have been around for awhile beforehands anyways;)

What about Charlotte, Raven, Spit, and What I Always Wanted, they dont suck hah, Paperdoll does suck tho... nice vocals but the lyrics themselves are very symbolic yet repetitive... with no loud enough beat to cover the repetition....

id also like to say to keep your personal comments to yourself Da_buzz, dont go and flame a band with more than 1 good song lol. same to you world.... you dont see me flaming punk or "LP"

Even SOAD can be compared quite similarly in singing stlye, sound, and lyric message to one of the prolific punk bands; the Sex Pistols. Punks not that different from normal rock it just has more attitude.:p

puck does suck.... its horrible, and sum 41 sucks the most out of that list... the rest suck too, Limp Bizkit is dead, they use to be good, before the total rapness, I do not like most of Linkin Park's songs, there are a few that i can barely stand.

Also yes chop suey is about suicide duhhh. Since they dont tell you the meaning of the song you are left to figure it out foe yourself, and well the main line that they keep repeating is ".....SELF RITCHEOUS SUICIDE ...." now you may not personally think that has to do with suicide but you cant deny that to the average person listening to that it will make her think of suicide.

As far as making statements like SOAD>punk thats silly because everybody has thier own tastes and I wont try to pretend that mine are better than others. I just like to kep it real about music styles and when peole are being opposistional definat just to be a pain. LIke this:

kittie and system aint goth. I play(summer and fall) at 4 goth clubs here, 2 in texas and i hang out at 7 here, 3 there, and they dont play that music and never have. Thats too mainstream or wanna be. They NEVER in austin or in chicago played either of those two bands once in any goth clubs. If you brought those up in a goth club, they'd laugh because that ain't gothrock/darkwave.

Look at system of a down dot com. There you will find that they are classified as "Nu Metal". If its not there, look on the Toxicity CD cover. My copy came with a sticker saying they are one of the best Nu metal bands today. They are not, by any means, punk. You say they are like the sex pistols, well guess what, MUSIC CHANGES. A form of music can be punk 30 years ago, and rock today.

As for goth, 90% of the songs from the best bands and even my own average band aren't about satan, suicide or anything like that. Alot of goth songs are more about ****ed up relationships, personal views/being misunderstood on the world, darkness being beautiful, and non violent topics. Honestly no good, true goth band is going to sing a song about satan, or killing people. never heard any band that was taken serious speak of those topics in their songs. The most popular creatures they might sing about if its a novelty track are vampires, GHOSTS, and stuff like that.

I agrrre with you taht SOAD is not punk, they are metal. Okay so you did see those reviews saying SOAD had punk similarites right? Yes rocker chick i am actually friends with alot of bands and I sang in punk/rock/rap band for awhile. Im thinking of starting another band also. Also someone said they didnt think punk bands cuss but alot of punk bands are actually notorious for being vile and offensive. No offense but you must not have that much knowledge of waht the punk sound really is if you think that bands like NOFX and Rancid dont cuss that much. Yah im gonna have to go on a CD shopping spree here pretty soon and spend like $1000. :o Among my purchases will be:

Deftones, Whitestripes, Transplants, Blur, Neurosis, Greenday, Slayer, Ramones, Bowie, The Replacements, AFI, The YahYahYahs, Soundtrack of our lives and yes..SOAD. :D

P.S. going to B.B. King of blues and rock and roll concert in two days woohooo!

BtW just saw BB king last night =AWESOME experience. He is the king of blues and a fore father of rock. Waht I really like about him though is that the whole show is like a conversation with the crowd. He really means waht he is singing you can tell. And the best part of the night was when he started doing some crazy freak dancing, shakin his ass and stuff. Lol that was the first time ive seen a 77 year old man do that. I hope im still in that good of a mood when im 77. I was kinda bummed out that night but the show totally changed that. His opening band the edward gomes band or somthing was also very awesome. If you like classic style rock and blues I reccomend it. I bought his cd and got him to autograph it. :)
