Please put all questions regarding to skinhack in this thread
It seems they put a special security measure to prevent the use of skinhack (using customs neon skins). When I replace the modified neon skin in R6Characters_T.utx and try to save the damn package it always says the following error:
"The filename you specified has one or more spaces in it. Unreal filename cannot contain spaces" even if there's no spaces in it.
I think a little crack is needed to restore the ability to save our package using the included UnrealED with RavenShield
Please if anyone know something, plz post

Oh I tried everything
666.utx 1.utx even different extension like
nothing.00 , nothing.txt , nothing.utx , nothing.u

try making one that you know should work just to see whether it's specific to the skins or if something has gone wrong that's affecting everything.

It gives me the error even when I try to save the original unmodified package{s}.
In short: I can't save anything (sound,textures,maps)
It always gives me the error I mentionned above.
I'm gonna test it on my friend computer with his Retail Copy to know if it does the same thing.
BTW I'm using WinXP Pro SP1
I don't know if it might be the problem

yeah it might be the ued you are running if its being run how i think it is. well at least you know then that it isn't your hack and that it is anything.
I'd like to do it for you, but are we certain because i didn't follow up on this, that ut2k3s editor is 100% compatible with RS? because i can do tons of editing to americas army in there but it wouldnt save for me until I got a small fix from someone.

Uninstall your game and reinstall it see thing is when you save anything it allways looks at the directory, Kinda silly i know seen as default dir installed has spaces lol,
Yeah just reinstall or save to somewhere IE C:/ what i did was uninstall and reinstall to C:/RvS or whatever fixes that problem right up :)
Just wish I had not been banned by UBI or I would pass on this info I have no clue why I was banned lol.
Yeah I found this error out after spedning 2 hours making part of a map :(

strange if you buy the game theres no bugs at all with 3.0 like this. Ez send me the file i'll get it running.

whatever is not working. I can package it right. i do about 30 packages last night for my current map. I do this on a daily basis. No trouble , total experience. Email me it or send on icq which I am not at on this pc right now though. Now add that up to the 1998 when unreal was released, i've been doing it with all unreal engine games to just 23 minutes ago. I can help ya.

the problem to save packages and or files is fixed!
Install the game in C:\Rvs\ (or whatever but no spaces)
I modified the gas mask and a couple of skin using Bright Neon Color.
Works without problem in Single Player but not in Multiplayer.
The server gives me an error because the file "R6Characters_T.utx" version mismatch (there's a check involved)
I'll try to delete some textures within the original *.UTX package to see what kind of error i'll get.
what do you think we need to do in order to "bypass" or hack this server side check?
I'll try putting the file read-only but i doubt it gonna work
PS: it can work in Multi only if the server has the same modified files so..ehh

so if you had editor issues you werent using the bought game ...or your own copy because i have never seen that error. sorry to stick on that subject, its for my own private reasons i need to know. I just never saw that error with 12 other people i know.

ya thats the status quo for unreal engine period . thing is you just made is acting as a new skin not a hack. you must get it to work as a hack, ask blackdev about this.

I think this is where stuff must be changed to allow skin hack.
If the Host removes the line: ServerPackages=R6Characters
In Theory people would be able to use their own skin because there would be no check.
I know it's not very interesting but if you wanna cheat using your own dedicated server (host) you simply removes that line and people would never know.
I'd like to know if im right on this one. If someone could test it with a friend that'd be great.

I just tried something,
(make a backup before.)
If you open the Original R6Characters_T.utx (also surely any other file) in the ravenshield editor then save it without editing anything, it will give you the error: "File version Mismatch" while trying to connect to any Multiplayer game even if nothing has been changed and/or edited.
What the hell ?? :confused:

you add you changes there. ServerPackages=name of file.
Just read tutorials for making mutators or skins models etc etc. been that way since 1997. If you umod it later, which would be cool, then when people run the umod, itll drop the utx in the textures folder, int u in the system, write the line to the ini. Real easy.
So far , you just made a skin , export utx open it in photoshop multiply neon green or yellow or rainbow for ghey people and paint on import back inot package . new skin . Do it all the time but i actually skin stuff not paint over. I'm just saying you are halfway there but you need it to work as a hack. I know there isnt a force models option in 2k3 . Not sure how to get that past detection either. I like ravenshield but i havent looked at it alot. I am assuming what came with 2199 for 2k3 was put into RS and AAO as well. We shall see.
Im really interested in looking at evilberts source in refernece to possible cheats for RS. just using his stuff as a base (credit to him of course). Then can use the pick the color you want for the skins like he did or turn it off with a killswitch key. Very nice work. Top notch amoung all the other freaking nice stuff in evilhack.

should have read the nfo,, it says right there cant do multiplayer cuz it does a server check, someone will release a server check removal.

I don't think you can use custom skins on this guys. The Unreal2 engine checks it with its textures and if it doesnt have it it wont let you in/or it wont let you use it. This is what I read. I might be wrong. Anywho the D3D hack will change the colors so theres no need to use a skin unless you really want to.

Also you can use custom skins people have made about 85934085930485349 for ut2k3 at least, ut, unreal 2 edits, UNREAL old - look at polycount, look at the countless unreal sites especially for 2k3. I made a new skin for one of the robots in 2k3 and I can go play it on servers fine. It defaults to the models original skin for all users on the server though unless they have my skin to see it. I dont make it a hack either, its just being artistic. On the other side, unreal engine games like Americas army - you cant make custom skins for because they don't want you too, nor a force model option. It's not that type of game. Same probably as ravenshield. They want you to look like you fit in with the setting, not make a skin of Vegeta from DBZor homer simpson and run around shooting a miltary weapon. Not saying you make vegeta skins heh, but I am saying I think the best route like Elac is saying is to use the d3d hack. If you are curious about it, go to the americas army forum - loook at the pinned thread for evilhack 160 and download it. It comes with the source code (thanks evilbert), so you can look at it first hand yourself.

No, there isn't its being worked on. I just walked into the door with Raven Shield :). I'm also questioning if its possible just to overwrite the stock uni's/skins completly. Only thing is saving it as a .utx package. The demo was protected I'm going to check the game after I install it.

not just yet, but soon. If all goes as planned, I think there will be a hack much better then anyone here can imagine except for you guys who have played with evilhack(new one and even the old one was great come to think of it). You guys know how good this COULD be.

Ezekeill, you didn't have to re-install your game into a new path to fix that but it is the best way to prevent those annoying boxes that pop up that say the spaces error every minute. All you had to do is when you saved your changes to a folder that doesnt have spaces and then transfer it into the RvS folder.

let me shine a little light on here. If u have any experience with a packet editor then when u join a with normal skins look for the checks then join with modified skins and look for the difference then u edit your packets to send the correct info to the server with your modified skins.

Problem being, we cant modify the skins because we cant compile.
