Little summary:
A guy called Wim van Eck set up a project to import crickets into a game using his webcam.
He was bored of the programmed "ghosts" in the game Pacman and gave him an idea to use REAL animals instead of coded ones.
As you can see at the link that i posted some cricket wallhacked ;) I think that one knows about MPC.
There is no intelligence in those crickets.

Because the crickets didn't move after 15 mins Wim created a vibration floor (So the crickets moved because they think an enemy is nearby) These vibrations made the crickets move towards the player .
