Hey toad,

Since you've been working with the zoom more than most... have you come up with any solutions to the problems I and others are having with the choppy gun movement???

I really would like to fix it asap... i've been trying to change all sorts of variables in the files that you edited for zoom, but nothing is working.

Do you have any suggestions? I'd be thrilled if you could even just post the code that might fix it... I'd know where to put it.

I thought it might be an issue with the player's zoomedposition, and I tried to alter other things... but i'm starting to think the fix isn't even in those object files.

ALSO

While playing around I changed the velocity variable for all the guns to 2000... and it seemed like the bullets were hitting their targets much faster, and the server didn't seem to have any problems with it.:cross-eye

A theory of the reason why its so choppy is because even tho you moving the mouse at normal speed, in the game is moving more of a distance then really it can handle. This is why when your in scope for sniper that your mouse sensitivity is lowwer. Maybe setup a script so when you go into zoom mode, that it lowwers mouse sense. Now this is just a theory but its a damn good one if you ask me.

That sounds about right... so how do we reduce the sensitivity to match the zoom correctly?

I too have choppy zoom.

In fact, although I DEFINITELY APPRECIATE with all my heart all the work Toad has done for the community, this zooming feature actually makes my zoomed aim less effective.

FogBast, I dont know. I wish I had time to check into and learn how BF is all hacked but I been working 6 days a week at 8 hours, 1 hour travel time one way to work, plus tech school, I just dont have time to learn about it. I am hoping that toad read this thread and hope that he checks into this more.

Try a single player game, you will notice that it does not lag at all. Wierd.

I'm sorry about the question... I didn't mean it to be demanding or a direct request to you :(

I just want to get some brainstorming going on how to override what appears to be a multiplayer problem (thanks toad.)

I was thinking if BF had a script system similar to CS you could bind a button to reduce the mouse sensitivity when zoomed. I find that if I move my mouse very slowly it doesn't seem to be a big deal.

I've been trying to turn my engineer's rifle into a sniper rifle, because it doesn't have the unzoom problem... but the choppy zoom problem needs to be solved... If there was a "mouse sensitivity while zoomed" variable I think that could be very useful. :)

also if the underwater vision could be set as an option only, because its very hard to shoot ppl swimming and i suspect its a factor of lag. and also its quite ugly (imho)

Hmm? mine does not lag at all single or mulit, I have the ATI 9700 pro and everything set to medium except distance I have that at full.

The only lag I get is when zoomed in viewing other players who are way out tend to studder or be lagging.

I have a radeon 9700,p4 oc'ed to 3.4,cable 250kbs connection and I still have a problem with the extreme magnification on the assault weapons. . I have lag when magnified. It is also like that on the pistol. It doesnt bother me with the pistol because when im in mag mode im usually shooting far away with my pistol, otherwise its in normal view. But in medium range combat with my assault rifle, its too hard to shoot. Is there a way to fix this manually? I would also like to make the water normal without fudging the fog hack, is that possible? Those would be a few things to address in the next version.
