Hey, my FRIEND AND I are doing a website and we have really crappy templates. We need like flashy stuff and hightech stuff that like loads, and when yuo switch pages it like fades away or is created dot by dot or something. Can anyone help? We also need sometype of javascript code for a chatroom inside it. Can anyone help?

I have been designing websites for over 5 years and I'll tell you this. Simplicity is the greatest beauty.

You don't have to make your website extremely flashy and load it with so many pictures.

You must also have your audience and target in mind when you are designing your website.

[btw] You might want to avoid that page transition thing. It slows down the website and is very very tacky.

heh thanks for the compliment but I dont know it all about computers, I know as I encounter. As for art - I know a great great deal from experience: computer art, writing, music anything creative but I don't know it all - i hope - As I definitely am looking forward to learning more. I uh for webpages, Ihad a flash one someone helped me with before...but I had done all the graphics. I dunno I do goth looking stuff mixed with Japanese art, as that is all I really know. I dunno, my stuff is an aquired taste and more a cult thing then a popular medium (THANK GOD!!!!). It's sad when the pshop noobs who do the tacky filter wh0re stuff see my stuff and say "why dont you do this kinda stuff?" Well I did when i was 13 but I grew up and grew out of that cheap tricks stuff. Just not my style. I like to keep it dark, ME and simple (kinda like darkcloud said yet not in that context). Talk to me on ICQ though (ill be on later I think) if you need something.

the three click rule. If you can't reach what you want in three clicks, redo your navigation.

that is how a lot of users think. So you have to make sure that most of the material the users want can be that easy to reach.

hmm, well - I can say from my past experience with playing with webcams, posting my pic on other sites, as well as my old site Fatal Rage 1, 2 and then 3 heh that if I answer that question - I will be stalked, pmed, harassed until I just say f__k it and leave because I can't take it anymore. That is the people who like goth girls(true goth, not this mtv, mainstream popular or known neo goth shit) I meet people if they try to remain my friend only, anything more can make it tough. heh my sites would be hell to you then (if i do a new one). I like to hide stuff, make it a complex web of total chaos and the total opposite of traditional, take away simplicity, give the "pros", the finger and do what I want. Thats me though. That way - only the truely devoted will stick around, figure out my puzzles, twists and turns and messages I try to convey in my own strange ways that I do.

Draw out your website on paper and begin working out the template. Designing websites isn't an over night thing.

Well, that's a form of art work. I've seen some people who designed their websites so it looks like a 404 but if you read the page, you would see that is his website hehe

I think theres one called hotscripts or something. I dunno.
Look around. I got them all bookmarked, and I have some actual books too and also you can do the uc thing, and go to a website you like and admire and view the source and rip it.
I don't recommend that one personally. If you see a "trick " on a site you like, just have the ability to recognize what that "trick"- ie script or tool they used is, then go do a search for tutorials on that. I had a question about something forgot now (dont post it either dark not important and i dont want people thinking about that either...until ive done something with it) that I saw on a website, I didnt know what it was exactly, so I asked someone who might (darkcloud) and now I know how it works kinda. Seemed like it wouldnt be hard to set up myself now that I know. So anyway, look around for scripts or sites using something you like and then go look up what that something is they used and apply it to your own work. It's really easy. half the scripts and such are out there on tutorial sites or free for download, you can copy and paste or just d/l and follow the instructions/play around with options etc. Trust me that'll work. Give it a try.

yeah if you're using templates then you better start making something by yourself, at first use dreamweaver or even Frontpage will be better then templates, learn it yourself don't ask others to do it for you. A flash website.... I doubt that you will be able to find anyone willing to do a good original site for free, maybe if the person is a friend or is himself involved in your site but there is still doubt.

A modest flash site will put you back about $200, if you want something more unique the price goes up to about $500, for something that a big corporation like coka-cola would have that's probably about $3000 - $5000, a more e-commerce related site would cost around $7500 because of the lods of scripting that have to be done, and if you want something like one of the webdesign companies have (their flagship sites) that's about $10000 - $25000 (depends on the level of complexity and GFX... more 3D = more $$$).... so yeah.... any self-respecting webdesign company will charge you $50 min. for a banner.... you do the math.

Oh and I know all the pricing options pretty well so... trust me the info is correct

Those prices sound about right. Except for the flash parts those are way too modest. I would usually charge something along the lines of 700 and that is with templates. The more unique the higher the price. it can go up to $100 a page in some cases.

sorry, but I just had to say that..... I doubt that any person off the internet no matter how financially independant or generous would do something that they aren't involved in... a better chance would be finding someone who is just starting off, perhaps someone who is looking to build his/her portfolio, and offering him something in return like co-webmaster of the site if that person wants it. But heh I guess I can be wrong.

Hey, I'm looking for new pieces to put into my portfolio! :( but I would have two ver. of the site, mines which has only so very few of my tagging all over it.

i'd do it for free lucky if i was interested in the idea. Like with fighting or gaming or drawing even when your good and pro still good to excercise the skills. Ya i would bve selective myself but some people do things for other reasons other then $. I am one of them. I do many things for people if I believe in whatever it might be they are needing help with. Like with my band I give 90% of the money we make to the members. With my art i keep the money but i just go spend it anyway in friends stores i know here in the city. It all comes back around for me. I dont mind living my life that way.

I dunno if i would tag it. I would leave that up to the person whos site it is or art. In the past being generous like that, people have repaid the favor in other ways.

emmm all the free sites that I have ever done (with 1 exception) contain easter eggs... I find that alot more effective then tagging and plus it doesn't bother the person as much as a tag would (especially if you don't tell em about the easter egg). But heh the sites I did for free was usually for somoen that I knew wouldn't run off. Plus ya know sometimes you're just in the mood to do something vreative without people telling you exactly how the want it to look or by when they want it, it's kinda relaxing to do that sometimes IMHO.

I saw both interview with the vampire and Queen of the Damned but i frgt he was portryed in them. I thought Interview was a land mark film. Queen was kind of medicore but entertaining none the less. Also made more interesting by the fact that he was part of a famous rock band. So since he has a big ego i guess ill give him a smirk and make him very handsome since hes like tom cruise who even i want to **** even though im not homo.

even I know how that move is done and I never did martial arts.... just hit them in their adam's apple and break the bone that's holding it in place.... it will then block their airway, and thus they will choke unless a doctor is somewhere nearby and can quickly cut open their throat and take it out.

you know i never saw that movie what year was it out in? I probably didnt live in the US when it was released. I've noticed the older hollywood american filsm , the martial arts is bad. Sure yah. Its an early 90s Sean Connery movie with Wesely Snipes(Blade). Very slick movie about muder and mayhem within a Japanese corporation in the U.S, and connery is expert at Japanese relations who mentors young detective Snipes as they delve into the seedy corporate underbelly to find a murderer. lol hows that review

i didnt move here until I was abotu 17 or so. I'm 24 (as of this last december). I saw alot of movies but not too many old ones that werent bigtime to come to japan when i lived there so probably dont remember. First wesely snipes movie i saw being i'm not from here was Blade then Blade II ....ya i know he made lots more before those, and I have seen a few since, but just I had to catch up. Was a big Brad Pitt fan though when living in Japan. ALso Cruise, etc. X-files guy...dont like him not but he had cool attitude told his superiors at the fbi to **** off alot, liked that. He just had a cool attitude, i respected.

Yes I know that guy from the comic con. Saw his Star Wars stuff, the one of vader with his hand on his face and all the dead jedi ghosts around him - bradstreets best picture.
He does covers for comics usually. Punisher recently that I saw. I know that picture too. It's from the old Vampire: The Masqerade Players Handbook. Might have been in a few others too. Cool.
