Trying to figure out the top 5 games of all time

Trusted Reviews has a rather long article about some games that they thing are the top 5 games of all time.

They have 5 people review and point out which games they believe are the best 5 games of all time, even though all the choices are different it is still an interesting read.

Some of the games on those lists are there as expected, yet others I find it hard to understand why they made the list.

In any case read it over and decide for yourselves are they right or are they way off base.

Half-Life 2
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or FFVIII (hard to pick between the two)

The first simcity was fun, after that there was so much stuff you had to remember... that sucked... I think the game i enjoyed most was Civ III. I played it for 8hours on end and the day after i did it again :P

I have Sim City 4 and Rush Hour (expansion). I hate playing it properly, so much to think about and it takes sooo long. So i just cheat it with mem editing and stuff its a lot funner.

Halo is the most overrated game ever made. There is nothing particularly good about it, and on the PC it would be much better... oh but wait... You have to use vista to play it... That pretty much makes Halo suck compared to any other PC FPS.

Super Mario 64, was one of those games that changed the way we see and play games, i mean this by the fact that unlike most of the marios before it, it was more focused on jumping and solving puzzles than beating enemies to death by crushing them with your ass, therefore bringing about the whole Action/Adventure/Rpg/Whatever the **** u wanna call it.

Here are my picks

Tribes - one of the first to introduce wide open fps maps with no load time for inside and outside enviroments. Comes with a scripting engine for maps and mods. No need to download just join servers to get new maps and mods. The first to introduce multi-player only concept (no single player missions). I loved this game.

Diablo 1 and 2 - Great dungeon crawl games with multiplayer! The evolution of Hack and Moria and the like of the early 80's classic text based games.

Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory - download it, its free! The first FPS to introduce RPG elements to games. Experience points, level ups, heavy multi-class team based element. Brilliant!

Sid Meier's Civilization series - my favourate strategy games.

Dude MisO69 i use to play tribe to man. I'm a retiree now lmao, but once in like 2 years i check on it. What mod you played in i use to play base only its only the real and true skill of it. Name in tribe use to be |LS|Jett or jsut Jett. Moved to tribe vengence, but i'm retire there too just on to battlefield 2142 now.

I loved playing that game, it was amazing, I finished it I don't know how many times! If there was ever game addiction, I definitely had it with that game :) ^__^

Also, Unreal Tournament was always a game I would never be without.

Civilization brings back good memories when playing with VF or AGu, although Age of Empires I, II, II.5 were always good.

It all depends on preferences really, as Quake 3 used to be an all time favourite for me (still is if I ever play it again), as was Counterstrike, but in the case of Counterstrike, I hated the updates they gave it to give it an "edge". The only edge they gave it was the edge that made me fall off that game.

How can you guys forget the best game of all time, starcraft. Also age of empires sucks in terms of strategy, it was like build your base solo for 15 minutes then attack.

Warcraft 3 (dota is just soooo fun)

russki111 I like the list you made, but Age of Empires at its time was unmatched and I still continue to believe that. Strategy games are all about how you strategically organize your army and then carry on to attack. If you care at all about defense, you have to build your forces first and that can take time... at least if you want to play for a long time and enjoy it too.

1)God of war (first one, i havent plaid second)
2)Smackdown VS Raw 2006 (i just like this one most in Smackdown series)
3)Gran turismo 2 (its just best of GT series because first one is too short too little in cars, third is pretty cool but i just like second more and finally 4th is just messed up because of that B-Spec it makes people use just it and then it doesn't feel like gran turismo anymore)
4)Battlefield 2 Modern combat (online mode is just so awesome)
5)Baldur's gate 2 Dark alliance 2
