Nissans are excellent. I wish I could afford an 01 Maxima.
Well, if you just want a BMW, 1980 BMW's are pretty cheap.

Well i dont kno waht a DB7 is but if your gonna make it as good as an Astin martin either way yuor gonna have to have some serious moola`. I also like the 1950's Mercedes Gullwing. Its shaped similar to a Porsche and has doors that open up like bird wings. Only costs 350,000.

-Grand National GNX with enough modifications can slam up to 1k Horse Power at the WHEEL!
-the Legendary Toyota MR2 SW20 [F1 RACER!]
-Mazda RX-8 MAXED OUT!
-the Almighty Ford Mustang Shelby
-the ungodly Corvette Sludge Hammer with QUAD TURBO CHARGERS! Do you know how many cars that can handle that much power! NONE!

DarkCloud
11th April 2003, 11:28
Nope not really. Someone drifts [slides] like crazy in the camry doing insane drifting.
if you don't know what's drifting: Here's the explanation (http://streetracing.tiora.net/japan/drift/drift1.htm)
In the commercial he does so many insane tricks with it that only the heavily experienced can do it. One example is that he has the car in reverse then the car drifts doing a 180 and goes forward. That is a lot of work!

that's only possible in a standard transmission car and is hard as hell..... lots of gear changes and lots of spinning the wheel, very difficult.... although a full 360 is even more difficult ;)
DarkCloud
11th April 2003, 23:36
90's aren't hard at all, I do them all the time on my automatic transmission corolla hehe
luck777jojo
11th April 2003, 23:47
yeah well a 90 isn't a 360 or even a 180.... as soon as you're doing more then 90 you require a manual cause automatic just won't let you do it ;)
DarkCloud
12th April 2003, 00:08
hmm... well, guess I'll need a rear wheel standard transmission car. But I'll ask the vvti forums about it.

12th April 2003, 05:26
Ive done 360s in my camry... i was in snow of course. its scary as hell when you can steer it any more:confused: :D
luck777jojo
12th April 2003, 05:59
yeah well we're talking about skid pad or gravel for 360s and pavement or any one of those two for the 180s..... that's quite a bit more difficult... when it's done in the snow it's actually called "spin out" and that's just considered an accident usually ;)
bigtimestuff
12th April 2003, 06:08
Of course your talking about pavement if i tried taht in my camry on pavement itd crack in half. Not an accident though on snow. Havnt yah heard of doughnuts? An extreme sport in its own right i think:classic:

I have to say IMHO the mercedes looks better then the BMW
DarkCloud
14th April 2003, 05:37
No offense, but it looks so small and so short. What are the engine specs?
bigtimestuff
14th April 2003, 08:42
Well i think i squashed the image a littlt to make it fit, but yah its pretty small and short. Its designed very similarly to a porsche and has that curved sloping type back. Um im not sure waht the engine specs are but its from the 50s so not that powerful although it was designed as a racing car for that time period. Nowadays its basically just a showcar. They're to expensive to race anyways unless your uber~rich.
luck777jojo
14th April 2003, 10:40
eah the race car for porsche during that time period is extremely similar to this one.
DarkCloud
14th April 2003, 23:30
Yeah, probably back then, they thought having 100 horse power would be a lot.
luck777jojo
15th April 2003, 03:55
hey those cars still look cool..... but heh... if you want an awesome car get a 2002 lambourghini diablo SE (the special edition ones aren't as "blockish" as the normal ones and they have alot more HP)
DarkCloud
15th April 2003, 10:27
Yeah but for the same price I could fix up a supra or a viper to beat it. Diablo's are more name than go.
<- saw a race where a viper destroyed a diablo :(
bigtimestuff
15th April 2003, 11:26
I always wanted a diablo when i was a kid. Now i would rather have one of those ferrais with a glass shild over its engine so you can see in. When it comes to cars like taht im striclty interested in aesthietics. I mean unless you live next to the auto bahn or something you cant really use those last few hundred horses. ;)
DarkCloud
15th April 2003, 19:46
The Autobahn... oh that would be racer heaven.... *dreams*
Too bad in europe there are a lot of US Illegal cars there. :( that means I would expect to see cars that are ungodly fast there. Cars that could destroy my precious supra :( cars that would leave a highly modified viper in the dust.
On the autobahn, if you're going too slow, they pull you over and give you a ticket for that lol
bigtimestuff
16th April 2003, 06:01

the fastest car that I have even seen or seen statics of was a camaro with a modified engine (enlarged cylinders) it beat the diablo hands down..... but hehe..... unless you're gonna race en I'd rather have a nice name car.... so that everyone is awed by it :p

16th April 2003, 08:06

You should've seen this one interesting race. Viper -vs- Neon.
the NEON WON! unbelievably, it won. Probably had NOS under the hood hehe
luck777jojo
17th April 2003, 07:38
hehehe kinda like the turtoise and the hare :p
but yeah that neon would have to be pretty damn suped up if it beat the viper, or else the viper had a fake engine :p
DarkCloud
17th April 2003, 07:45
Yeah, but probably once the race was over, it was a $19,000 paper weight cause NOS forces the owner to rebuild the entire engine every 5-10 races. So NOS isn't worth it unless your racing for a slip on a car that doesn't use NOS.
luck777jojo
17th April 2003, 08:05
hey it would be worth it to beat a viper in a neon :p ;)
DarkCloud
17th April 2003, 08:08
hah! true true!
It was also in a video. The guy saw the neon beating a viper and he said, "Hey, is that a neon?" His friend reply, "yeah." "What the F*.." [end of video with neon passing the finish line] HA! One of my all time favorite videos!
Felix
17th April 2003, 15:13
The race had to be fixed. Unless it was a viper underneath with a Neon outside.
out.DarkCloud
18th April 2003, 01:12
Not really, with enough modifications and enough money any car can be as fast as any other.
I think the neon was using some illegal stuff like Nitrous Oxcide (NOS). Highly unstable and highly explosive.
luck777jojo
18th April 2003, 04:43
a few nitro boosts might actually be enough for a neon to beat a viper on a short track.
DarkCloud
18th April 2003, 06:36
a couple of shots of NOS could push a viper to hit close to 1500 hp. But then again, the engine would die after a couple more shots hehe
Felix
18th April 2003, 15:13
How long was the track? (if you said this before I'm sorry)
bigtimestuff
18th April 2003, 18:39
Im not surprised a neon can beat a viper with all the modifications that can be made to it. people race neons all the time in street races. Did you ever see that one documentary on MTV on street racing?
Malicious
18th April 2003, 20:35

I believe it was half a mile run. I'm starting to grow out of my racing phase. Not much races and the price of gas is eating away at my wallet.
I wish I could've seen the documentary. The only kinda racing documentary I've seen is the over hyped and over produced the Fast and the Furious.
When 2 Fast 2 Furious comes out, you're going to see a whole lot of racer cars in the parking lot.
*grabs a crowbar waiting for that movie to come out* heh

19th April 2003, 01:49
*LOL* Crful a friend of mine actually got in big trouble for that, but thats another story..

luck777jojo
19th April 2003, 08:08
personally I'm not that much into the racing stuff.... I just don't see the point of it
bigtimestuff
19th April 2003, 11:56
other than moutain bikes and err.. running, I never got into racing either. Alot of it probably had to do with lack of funds at the time too. I think alot of the appeal has to do with the adrenaline and underground feeling of community. Of course all that comes at a very dangerous cost...
luck777jojo
20th April 2003, 10:42
yeah "dangerous cost" like emmm...... possibly killing yourself and maybe someone else as well.... see that's the thing.... if it just was a risk to yourself then I wouldn't be against it but... it's not, it's a risk to others as well.
DarkCloud
20th April 2003, 10:51
Well, each and everyday we take risks.
What keeps the car from hitting you when youre crossing the street on foot or a car is a light that glows red.
You take risks when you cross the street, sit infront of a box that emits radiation...
every day is a risk we take. every choice we make has its reactions.
The thing I noticed is, "We live like the next day is guaranteed."
bigtimestuff
20th April 2003, 11:53
Yah im one that believes in taking risks just for the sake of letting go of a little control. Thats why i like sports like mountain biking and climbing, that adrenaline rush can make you forget who you are and feel "alive". thats why i want to take one of those racing courses. Just as long as your not hurting anybody cause tahts not cool either.:squareeye
DarkCloud
22nd April 2003, 05:22
Sometimes when I race someone in my car, I feel my heart beating so fast, my foot starts twitching revving up the engine really hard. All I could see is the straight away infront of and the light winding down green-yellow-red-[my] green light.
The engine screams with the tires screeching against the floor. The path ahead of me is clear as my soul races down the black paved track.
Even when I'm racing against a car I know I damn well will lose, I give it my all and my car gives nothing short of what I given it. 0-10-30-50-65-80. The quarter mile run is over and win or lose, the race is nevertheless a story worth telling.
bigtimestuff
22nd April 2003, 05:44
Nice. Sounds like a real rush. Kinda reminds me of barreling down a rocky mountain trail on a mountain bike going 35 mph with the wind ripping at your clothes and tears filling your eyes. Then hitting that jump that makes you weightless as you fly downwards. And finally coming back down to earth with an awakening jolt as your tires slam into the ground. Sik stuff. Course ive paid my price for experiences like that. 4 shoulder surgeries later and its all still worth it.:bandit:

I wouldn't want to ride a hydrogen powered car cause of the word, "hydrogen".
Whenever I think of that car, I think I'm riding ontop of a hydrogen bomb. One hit to that hydrogen cell and... well, let's just say, they won't find your body!
bigtimestuff
24th April 2003, 08:48
hehe BOOM but i think thell clear all that hydrogen bomb stuff up before selling them to people.

24th April 2003, 08:56
Hydrogen always has and always will be a very explosive and highly unstable element. That is what gets me so worried about "hydrogent" powered cars. *shakes* its like one whole city loaded up with nukes ready to blow!
It might as well as be a domino effect. One car blows... the entire city goes [BOOM!]

well that only works with highly concetrated hydrogen..... the hydrogen used in these cars is not as concentrated..... therefore it disipates in the air faster.... this actually makes it more safe then gas cars, since gas can ignite and because that hydrogen disipates so quickly it has no time to ignite ;)

Do you mean, that you then can go as fast as you want?
DarkCloud
18th May 2003, 11:35
As fast as the engine would allow without limits programmed into the motherboard of the car.
Governers are designed to make cars street legal and keep them within a speed range designated for that class of vehicle. But I really believe its more so to keep fast cars slower than cop cars. In California and well, most major cities across the US, cop cars have turbo chargers atleast a general amount of them have turbos while others have supers...but the turbos are installed into cop cars so that they are able to catch up to the really fast cars.
Cars like the Grand National, Skyline GTR-32, GTR-33 and 34, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo-R, and the Toyota Supra MKVII & MKVIII, and so many other cars were not allowed in the US anymore because they were too fast to keep up with. Grand National had to stop production [way too fast] because cops were having a hard time keeping up.

Well, I don't think crown victorias can match up to the standard issued rice racer car, the civic. Throw in several easy parts to find like a Weapon-R Dragon Intake, Turbine Exhaust, Redo the entire exhaust manifold to increase it about 1/2", and drop a small turbo charger in there for immediate boost and that lightly modified Civic will easily destory a crown victoria at its maximum setting.
Now as you know, most people who race civics don't stop at just those four mods, they go all out. Some even to the extent as to drop in a GSR engine under there and work their way from there. Those who are rich and insane enough would put 5-15 shots [NOS] in there.

Most of the too good cars come out at night anyways and find a drag strip. Unfortunate and forturnate for me, I live by one. If I want to watch something like the real life Fast and the Furious I just look out the window hehe.

hehe that would be quite cool actually, just gotta make sure you have nicely insolated windows so that you don't get woken up during the night when you're not in the mood to check those out ;)

hehe yeah
I like watching the races. My area looks pretty good for a drag strip. I'm going to do a map of it for UT2k3 once I understand how to work with the mapping tool.
