Well, I figured that I would post about this because I am in class right now and really bored.. On a few other sites where people post graphics or what not they have a whole forum part for competitions - For fun..Nobody recieves any prize for winning, but it just wastes some time and shows your ability.

Rules

The person posting for an oponent to play could make a Thread called like ( example ) : " GB : PhotoShop : anyone interested?".

After that in the first post (person who started the thread) could state the rules he would like. For example : "300x200 image, Take something from this picture - Keep original size. 2-6 Rounds ( Meaning the person starting the thread adds in a neat picture that he has seen and thinks might be able to do work with ) And then when someone takes it you go on through however many rounds is agreed between the 2.

After your oponent posts his design from whatever he took from your picture, then you will take something from his/yours ( Preferrably his depending on how he did it) and to come out of it really - nobody is Announced a Winner, its more of a thing were people sees your talent - after you post your picture, people will say like Nice, or , you could work on this or that. Forgive me if this was a waste of space =\ Thought it would be fun to see some of MPC's talent int he forums. and If I didn't seem to make since in something..Just ask me :) I'm out guys - hope you consider it :chinese: :ende:

I like part of that idea and I'd be all for it, but I don't like the part about people taking my work and altering it. If we can change it to where people just post stuff...in the end personal taste is personal taste...then I'd enjoy it.

I understand what you are saying but not knowing if you understand what I am saying.
I mean like, Take a peice from your picture..Like if you had a computer somewhere in your picture - they could take the computer and like..hmm...put it in an eyeball? not take the WHOLE picture. Or if your still not liking that then you could have it where you BOTH take something from the first picture and keep it within a pixel range and for another round have the oponent pick the next picture? Sounds weird I guess, but yeah I'm not the one that would be the person running it so lets let the 'Gaphic Players' make the rules, just trying to bring something fun to the forums :)

Short example is I just made this within the 5min of which I typed to your reply - www.thereapersmods.com/mark/Battle.jpg - I took just a sunset picture and did a simple adding to it =\ Sometimes the simplest things can take it far..It's also alot better looking larger but didn't want to lag the 56k people. But yeah - that is an example - there can be different battle types depending on how good the other person is with the program he/she is using :) :ende: hope everyone likes my ideas :) maybe someone should try it with another - it can be pretty fun.

this is more so my personal opinion, but I don't think it would be possible to compete in such things like graphics. Its like comparing two different styles agaisnt each other. Or two different forms of martial arts against each other. No one martial art can really claim dominance over another because each style, form, and technique has their strengths and weaknesses.

Some style's strengths is another style's weakness and vice versa. Or some strengths that a martial art has maybe its weakness agaisnt another. However, it also depends on usage. Machiko handles several style well and can flow from one stance to another smoothly.

It can also depend on the person too

Well if you read the last part of my first post it all comes out to be fun, nobody is really considered a winner or loser at all..There are nobody to judge - its more of a post the picture - and then get aplauded and tips and 'gj's' and I understand there are more then 2 or 3 or 4 styles that people use, but thats what makes it unique. If you were entering a Create-a-Flag tourney for a job or something they wouldn't kick one person out for one style, they would acknowledge it and maybe pick it because they like it better, so I do not believe that the Style part is really that big of an issue here - Just making sure you use the same Program to make the designs is the main thing :) I dunno if I made any sense but I am half asleep and typing without think much. :chinese:

That's understandable. Hmm... So its more of an art gallery, I take it.

So everyone starts with the same picture that the poster will specify and then you see what everybody does to it? Sounds cool. Or you could post an IDEA that everyone has to start from. Like a skyscraper from the future or a fight scene. Both sound fun to me. You should go ahead and start one up. Ill submit things.:bunny: :bunny: :bunny:

Will their be a time limit? If so, I can see that as a problem of getting people online at the same times, and seeing if they actually did submit it in the required amount of time.

i dont think its anything that strict. just for fun.

I wouldn't mind giving it a try if there was a picture given to us and see what we do with it.

We should make a ]MPC[ graphic design group taking over the design industry hehe

I like the ideas about the fight scene if we pan right to left or the other way sorry. Piece by piece a large group fight might be fun. Especially if each person gets to draw their own character in the fight, and maybe the victim they are attacking. Or just a group of characters standing together, maybe on the street of some dark, dark city.

Oh yeah. Just as dark as parasite eve. hmm... so are you talking about designing and developing characters for like a 1on1 game?

Machiko

no i was talking about people hand drawing them and then coloring them with whatever tool they wanted, just making a group shot. I was thinking of a city a little more, well.hard to explain. More from a film..can't place it right now, but something a little more imposing. I dunno...doesn't matter much. That could be last. I rather draw the character(s) first.

That would be awesome. Having a group picture of all our characters put together and all of us signing it :p

That sounds cool, like we all draw our characters and then montage them into one scene? Not exaclty what the original idea was of everybody starting from the same picture but still cool. Or if someone made the *dark city street* setting we could could use that as a starting point and everybody just adds thier character in.

understandable, thats how most things happen anyways. but sometimes I would rather take an immediate dive into it.

i could make a 3d one really easy ...just the ground level. mostly dark...well maybe. Depends what you want. it can be less important looking dark and shadowy, but enough to start putting the characters down. I can hand draw it as well, but I do very manga-like stuff, as you might imagine.

Sure if you got tha time. Or i already have a picture that i can photoshop to make look like comic/computer art. A rendered image would be good but i kno you probably busy too;)
