Chances of Detection

Iam in the process of making my own name tag hack for bf2142, but this concerns me

Once its done what are the chances of PB detecting me? and what are the consquences? perm ban, hardware ban, temp ban?

>Temp (2 min) kick from the server you're playing on is the general rule if detected.
>Permanent ban from the server is what happens if that particular server/group of servers has a permaban policy (highly unlikely).
>Hardware ban happens if you mess with punkbuster directly. If you don't think you're doing that, you probably aren't. It is highly advisable that you stick to messing with the game while leaving punkbuster itself alone (unless you know exactly what you're doing). Please note that hardware bans do not affect Linux systems or hard drive RAID arrays.


Likelyhood of 2 min kick ranges from low (if using a private/self made hack and proper code caves) to high (if using a hack you DLed from a public source). Permaban's likelihood is quite a bit lower than 2 min kick but follows the same curve. Hardware ban isn't going to happen unless you do something to directly mess with Punkbuster (once again, if you're not sure whether or not you're doing this you probably are not doing this).
