View Full Version : Phantasy Star Universe and dhttpd

I know that I can use dhttpd to bypass PSU's gameguard, but the only problem is I can't figure out the address I have to redirect in the host file. dhttpd automatically adds an entry for gameguard.mapleglobal.com, so I tried the following (none of which worked, naturally):

gameguard.phantasystaruniverse.com
nprotect.phantasystaruniverse.com
gameguard.nprotect.com

Tried looking up where gameguard connects to with netstat, but that didn't reveal any useful information either. Could anyone tell me the address I should be plugging in or give me a hint in some archaic language on how to find out? :)

Thanks and sorry for leeching

I believe it is update.nprotect.net Do you have aim? I wouldn't mind working on this with you. Also are you trying to compile a new one from scratch or are you trying to edit the one for maple story?

I don't have aim, unfortunately, and I'm just editing the one for maple story since I'm lazy ;) I'll give that address a shot, after I remove this trojan from my computer >_>

Edit: Whoops, looks like it'll be a little more involved than just a simple redirect. I was able to redirect GG with the info you provided, but it fails to download from the emulated server. Going to need to mess around with the files on there.

Well, this is turning out to be a bigger pain than I originally anticipated... so I figure this can only be solved by COMPLICATING matters: rather than writing a server emulator from scratch, I'm going to take my trusty hex editor and see if I can rape the .exe and just stop the ****ing thing from loading (and checking) for gameguard entirely.

I doubt I'll succeed, but it'll be fun (I'll upload it if I do succeed, naturally).

I have a trainer of this game but i cant use it since it was protected by gg. Some1 can teach me how to bypass it and use the trainer. Sorry i'm not a noob but I really cant do it without any instructions

lol, sorry, wish I could help but the whole reason I started this thread was to figure out a new way of bypassing GameGuard for PSU.

Try searching the board for GameGuard Killer, there's at least two posts that have instructions on how to use it and have download links for it (they're for Maple Sea, but it's basically the same steps).

I haven't been able to get GameGuard Killer to work with PSU, possibly because the game has been hard coded to freak out if GameGuard fails to load, but it might just be bad luck on my part.

GGK won't work anymore. I'm still willing to help you out on modifying the dhttpd server, if you wanna leave your email or some chat system you use.

Sadly, being the chronically lazy sort of person, I've given up on modifying the dhttpd and using Abyss instead (pretty much the same end result anyway :p). Just trying to figure out the directory that GameGuard looks in for its files.

GameGuard\SEGA\SEGAPSU for the server. If you could upload an old copy say between 896 and before 939 I'd love to try this out myself.

Here's a GG rev 896 for MapleSea that I found a while back, but naturally it doesn't work for PSU; the updater does download a few files before terminating prematurely, at which point PSU throws up an error and unloads.

It's taking a while for the moderators to approve the file, so I found where I originally got the file from. Just go to megaupload and add "/?d=MZ7XWHG6" to the end of the url (looks like they don't like offsite file linking o_o).

I guess you really don't need it since the current rev is down to 905 (weird), but feel free to give it a shot anyway. If it works it would be nice to actually be able to play the offline mode while offline :p

Got the new server-side files for PSU's GG rev 909, I'll upload it for anyone who might be interested in using them.

I'm kinda surprised GameGuard doesn't set off any alarms with virus scanners, considering it's a rootkit and all that :\

GameGuard noticed that i changed stuff into my hosts file, and did this everytime I looked why it still connected to their servers:

#27.0.0.1 update.nprotect.net <-- Yeah, it put a "#" infront of my own IP :bunny:

Ok... Why I want to bypass GameGuard has nothing to do with hacking, only that I want to be able to play without going online everytime, and what happens in like 5 years if GameGuard does not exist? Speak about crappy date-limited-software...

So, I have this in my now READ-ONLY marked file (which GameGuard cannot fix anymore):

127.0.0.1 update.nprotect.net
127.0.0.1 update.nProtect.com
127.0.0.1 gameguard.phantasystaruniverse.com
127.0.0.1 nprotect.phantasystaruniverse.com
127.0.0.1 gameguard.nprotect.com

But I cannot still connect to my own game, somehow GameGuard will not be happy with the local GameGuard files I have in my htdocs under this dir: C:\Apache\htdocs\nProtect\GameGuard\Sega\SEGAPSU

Grr, what have I made wrong here? I have the GameGuard files from: GameGuard909_PSU_Server.rar in there... so...

What must I do in order to have:
1. GameFuard connect to my own server?
2. GameGuard download my OWN files?

What have I made wrong here beside that *I* exist? :disappointed:

Peace sisters and brothers :rambo:

sorry my poor english.
I have solved this problem.
1、I install a dns server on my pc to translate "update.nprotect.net" -> 127.0.0.1
2、C:\Apache\htdocs\nProtect\GameGuard\Sega\SE GAPSU is wrong in my pc,I put it in C:\Apache\htdocs\GameGuard\Sega\SEGAPSU,you can catch the http packet which nprotect send to find the currect path.

after that, work well.luck
Oops,it is difficulty for me to say in English.
