Tutorial for making hacks work.
Part One: Injection Hacks
HL2Hook, HLH, Catalyst etc
Installation:
Extract to your desktop (or a subfolder, ie: desktop\stuff).
Utilization:
Read the readme that comes with the hack (if there is one). Take note of any other installation issues, and do them. Now run the hack's main EXE (ie: miranda32.exe). After this, close any firewalls as they may be blocking injection. Now run CS:S, Click Create Server, and make sure the hack is working correctly. Set your settings now, then save them. ("savecfg" for hl2hook I think) Now go into a server and have fun.
Part Two: Material Hacks
NoWater, NoHands, Fullbright Maps etc
Installation:
Open up the zip/rar, now read the readme. If it has installations options in there, follow them. If not, take note of the folder structure. If the first folder is called "cstrike", extract it to "C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\Steamapps\YOURACCOUNTNAMEHERE\co unter-strike source\" (Modify YOURACCOUNTNAMEHERE to your account name of course.)
If the first folder is called "materials", extract it to "C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\Steamapps\YOURACCOUNTNAMEHERE\co unter-strike source\cstrike"
Please note: installation path may vary.
Utilization:
Start up CS:S, and play. If nothing shows up, make sure the directory path is correct. A correct path should look something like this:
C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\*accountname*\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials\ Inside that directory, theres folders like "models", "props", "liquids", "skyboxes", "effects", etc. If you installed it correctly, all you need is to start up CS:S and play.
Part Three: Configging
Most hacks will come with a config; "config.cfg", "autoexec.cfg", etc. You can edit this to edit your hack's settings, for example, taken from the hl2hook config.cfg:bot.bunny 66 changed to bot.bunny 0 will turn off HL2Hooks bunnyhop setting. Play around with the settings to your liking.
