I know there are a few threads about this but I think this one would benefit a lot of people.

Right I'm hardware banned and want to get rid of it.

Firstly I have spoofed my mac address with SMAC, and my physical address on ipconfig /all now reads: 0C-0C-0C-0C-0C-01

Could anybody confirm if this is spoofed, because I don't know what it was before I had SMAC.

Next step is to purchase a new hard drive because I think most of the hw spoofers on the net are detected by punkbuster.

If I were to purchase an external hard drive, could I just install a new copy of BF2 on the new hard drive and then play?

Thanks for your help.

im not sure sometimes PB might have banned your internet router or connection. Or IP. But using different hard drives im sure wont work.

It is obivious you know nothing of how PB works - please refrain from posting in threads you have no knowledge of as you hinder solving the problem not cure it.

You should have checked the MAC addy before using SMAC. We cannot tell you if you changed it.

You cannot run BF2 from an external hard-drive, if it works it will run too slowly and PB will still ban you due to the main hdd in your PC - PB ban upto the first 10 physical hard-drives.

Stop what you are doing right now and read that sticky about bans. Read it carefully, pay attention to some of my posts and you will find the solution is simple;

1] PB bans the hard-drive and network adapters.
2] You must remove the ban on both to remove the ban.

NIC/Network adapters

1] Either replace the NIC card - a new PCI one and/or disable onboard NIC via BIOS.
2] Spoof it - using any of the programs already listed/mentioned.

Personally, I would just buy a new NIC card as they're cheap less than £5.

Hard-Drive

1] Buy a new hdd and re-install Windows and all applications to it. Keeping it inside the machine can still result in a ban as PB scans the hardware.

2] Use RAID. PB cannot scan the hdd serials if using RAID. This way you can use the banned HDD.

test to see if the ban has been lifted by using the free Americas Army game - this will help protect any BF2 CD-Keys.

thanks for the reply, i'll try the things you mentioned. the only problem is i'm not too computer advanced and wouldn't know how to set raid up etc. could i just purchase a new hard drive, copy everything over to that and throw the old hard drive out? thanks

3dguyz i think when pb hardware ban you, you are banned from all pb enabled games (aericas army is one). and so if i have removed the hardware ban correctly i will be unbanned from americas army.

Correct, a Global hardware ban from PB is for all PB enabled games. By using a free game to test if the ban is removed then you save money by not wasting CD-Keys.

You could just buy a new hdd and clone everything across to it, or you could set it up as a RAID device - if you're not too sure on how ask a friendly PC tech guy to do it; you never know if you buy the hdd from them they might be willing to do a deal on setting everything up for you.

If you go the single hdd route, you don't need to throw it out, you can do one of the following;

1] Make it an external HDD. Buy an external HDD caddy (ICYBOX) and make it an external drive for backup and portable storage - just remember to remove when playing games.

2] Leave it in the machine but disable it every time you play a game. If disabled then PB cannot scan it as it's not installed. Not a favourite of mine as I'd forget to disable it, but still feasible.

u cant spoof ur hard drive serial numbers, the programmes on here get caught by punkbuster as a hack so it does not work.

Were you using MSX?

Borat

To be honest mate I don't know, it was October 05. It was a private hack, but I know loads of others were banned at the same time. I don't know why it was banned because I was told it had no anti-pb features, i.e tampering with screenshots etc.

these were the screenshots that caught me if it helps?

No, I don't think it was an MSX hack, I remember them. Could anybody tell by that page I linked to if I am hardware banned. I am 99% sure that I was given a hardware ban message, but I have just played America's army and it was fine :S

That is a link to Punksbusted not PunkBuster - note the 'S'.

Punksbusted is run by a select number of server admins and is nothing to do with PunkBuster. You are only banned from servers running PunkSBusted and not PunkBuster.

I'm banned from Punksbusted servers but still play on PB servers. Just try a different PB enabled server and you'll log in just fine (as long as it's not a Punksbusted server).

Plus, if this is the case then there is no need to go about spoofing and changing hdd. The only way to remove a Punksbusted ban is to buy a new CD-Key (change GUID) but it's not worth it.

Punksbusted is only like 20% of servers. You still have the other 80% to hack on :)
