[TUT] How To Fix D/Cing at Char Selection Screen

I'm not sure if this has been posted already, but I have repeatedly seen people asking how to fix the disconnecting at the login screen. The answer to this question is very simple.
Ok, well the reason why you disconnect at the char select screen is because you are emulating the server, and since maplestory hashed the files, any attempt to emulate results in a disconnection. All you have to do to fix this is: DO NOT use dHTTPd, or SimpleClick. You will also have to fix your hosts file. To do this, click start, then run, and then type in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
Then click enter. Look for the file named hosts (It doesn't have any file extensions at the end). Right click it and click properties. Make sure that Read-Only is not ticked. Then open the hosts file with notepad, and make sure it says exactly this:

127.0.0.1 localhost


If it doesn't, then delete all the lines after 127.0.0.1 localhost, or just delete the text in there and copy and paste the text i posted above. Then click File, and save ( If it says the file path cannot be found or something, then click ok, and it will come up with an option to save as. Save it as hosts, make sure it's in the correct folder, and make sure that for the file type dropdown you have selected All Files, and not Text files).
After saving it, make sure you right click, then click properties, and make sure the read-only box is ticked. This will fix your disconnection at character login screen.

Note: You may have to restart your computer after doing this to make it work.

Hey all you morons who say it doesn't work, make sure you are using an engine that bypasses GG Rev 1021. GG was updated today so it now has a CRC, which means we need a way to get around it. I will probably post how to pretty soon, since no one else on this forum has bothered. It's funny how everyone thinks that CRC Bypass is patched, but it's not, there's just another CRC Bypass that needs to be taken care of first

ive went to the folder and looked and there wasnt any files in there. no hosts and none of the other ones that ppl are mentioning, how do i get the files in there? i tried re downloading maplestory but it didnt do anything. cant even play legit, and no i didnt delete them

That folder is of Windows not MapleStory, Maple use the host.. :\

Well, that doesn't work unless you have administrator privileges on your computer.

And I think you may need to put it on Unicode, I'm not sure how I got mine to work. But I'll just attach it so it is easier.

And you are going to have to extract it.

I'm not sure if this will work for what ever reason. But it's worth a shot...

This shouldn't have any viruses, because I just copied the pasted the code, saved the file, ran it, ziped it, and attached it here. But then again, my friend was f*cking around with some viruses the other day, and I have no idea why he used my laptop. So DL at your own risk!

The hashes mean that its commented... so doesn't do anything.

You can't hack because.. of gameguard's CRC. There's many posts about it on the front page.

dHTTPd is the least of your problems right now. Since there are engines that do bypass GameGuard Revision 1021, there is no longer a need for dHTTPd. If you are looking for one, I highly recommend iCheat Engine 1.3.

Once you've got that cleared, you will be facing a new problem. Bypassing GameGuard's CRC (yes, now Maplestory and GameGuard have one)
You can look around for hints, but unless you know how to use Ollydbg, you know ASM, you know the functions of a CE, and you're generally an educated hacker who happens to have common sense, then you don't have much of a chance of finding a bypass. I would recommend that you start learning now.

Follow the instructions of my first post. You don't want to D/C at the character selection screen, and instead you want it to give you the error: a hacking attempt has been detected.
That hacking attempt error pops up, not because you're not bypassing Rev 1021, but because you need to bypass GameGuard's CRC (both Maplestory and GameGuard has one). There is currently no public bypass, so I think you should start learning now so that you can create your own

Of course it works. And it's much more efficient than logicalmale's stupid method of: delete your hosts file. If you just delete it, and you don't follow my steps, then your hosts file will keep getting lines added to it that look like this:
127.0.0.1 gameguard.maplestory.com

They make it harder to bypass. Without a GG CRC Bypass, you probably won't even be able to go ingame with a uce open with the GameGuard lines added to your hosts file
With my method, even if you haven't bypassed GG's CRC, you can still go ingame with your uce open.


NOTE: An even shorter fix for your hosts file is to open up SimpleClick and click uninstall. This will execute all of the instructions from my original post, even the read-only stuff.
