Maybe try reporting it to maple story staff, i will still look into this error to try and help you may i ask what operating system you are using?
But my idea is its a direct X error and not a maplestory error.
"Other suggestions i googled and searched on mpc"
The following error code is not from MapleStory. Rather, it's from the Windows itself. If you have a virus, hacking or macro programs, it can produce various codes, so it's recommended that you delete those programs before playing the game.
and
I see error code "-2147287038"
If you get this code often, we recommend that you remove the game, re-download, and reinstall.
Or try taking your firewall off(Doubt that has anything to do with maplestory)
uh
More Suggestions:

Update Graphics card too! I searched google for this error concerning another thread and found that updating the graphics card is a common solution.
Heres how. (http://tech.yahoo.com/gd/pc-troubleshooting-update-your-graphics-driver/166326)
