hacking is killing ET

I play lots of games with hacks but there is a point where it is just taking it too far. Hackers on australian server are using hacks to kill the servers and ruin et for every 1. This would happen almost every day.

Im not asking any1 to stop hacking but just dont ruin et.

exaclty ye its good for some laughs but server crashing is just noob. There is practically nothing u can do to block hackers from rejoining even if they are hardware banned/ip banned etc

No, as the same CD-Key will produce the same GUID.

Anyhow, there must be a way for server admins to secure the server.

ET is a free game, just like AAO. Reinstall = new guid. Thats why GUID bans dont exist in ET anymore (as far as i remember)

yea dude i no i play on a oldschool bot server (oz) and it crashes like 3 times or more a day :\

ET is just going the way of all old games. You'll get a niche group of players who get together and play the very last version released and after they stop playing it the game goes 'poof' and disappears.

I give it another 2 years at most.

Yes, join PB servers ;) hehe, I have a bit of research material I've written for myself on how to break PB. And another 20 or so pages of assembled research material on general PB knowledge.

Pretty much for a fact, in 2-3 years with the release of a certain embedded motherboard chip from intel *cough* Vt-d *cough*, It'll be possible to virtualize whole games and keep that all so precious hardware acceleration :)

It will then be impossible for PB to do anything about cheating because as far as its concerned, it will have owned the box... but wouldn't be aware of dom0 :pauk:

If that Australian server is 2.55 than its crashable with some q3 crasher
if your server = 2.55 than you should install anti crash on your server

The point is, if ET has a large population, then hacking wouldnt be a problem, but since it is a very small community, hacking is kinda retarded since theres no real advantage anyway.
