Just got round to install ubuntu (again) on my laptop; have to add that using Envy (http://albertomilone.com/index.html) to install the ATi driver was the best and easiest option for a linux noob like me - recommend it to anyone with ATi cards, heck it even makes nvidia installs easy too.
Anyhow, which irc client do you guys recommend using?

I would go with either BitchX or XChat

you can always run mIRC via Wine. But i recommend XChat2-GNOME. I believe its under the Add/Remove Applications program (GUI frontend to apt-get).
