need help about TF2 nonsteam beta

hi. sorry for making posts like this, but i need some help...
i downloaded team fortress 2 beta, i could start it and i saw some server IP's...... well, none worked
i had massages like these:
-the game needs steam to be running
-failed to connect server after 4 retries
-this server got a higher protocol (11) then yours

and i as running steam ALWAYS
i searched for lotsa patches but none had protocol 11
so could someone help me in this?

This all most likely is coming from you using the beta. Since the game has been final for monthes, the beta is likely not to be working on servers anymore. I suggest you get the final version of the game.
