I don't think it is mandatory to use the updates (1.1, 1.2) in order to play on servers. Correct me if I am wrong. :\

This has been out for a while buddy. I have got the "This server is using a patch higher v1.3" for over a week now on certain servers.

yea u need this update if u want to play on any server that has updated to this version.
