restore profiles?

hi guys, i have a big problem!

cod4 is installed on partition L:, win xp was on C:.
today i formatted C: and refreshed everything, well.
but then, when i started cod4 the first time again it gave me an error that my profile couldn't be read or so. please help me to get it back! all my ranks etc. is erased :ogre:

lulz. Start over, or use the level 55 trick.

1. Before reinstalling backup your CD-Key and profile folder
2. After installation run CoD4, enter your old CD-Key, then exit game.
3. Restore your profile from backup

mpdata is linked to your CD-Key, if you run game with another key, all stats will be reseted

//edit, omg i found a way to restore the 'lost' profile.

1. go to your cod4 dir
2. players\profiles\*NAME*
3. there should be a file called mpdata and another file mpdata.corrupt
4. delete the mpdata and rename mpdata.corrupt to mpdata.
5. done! worked for me

This only works if the mpdata file was corrupted somehow.

All players should back up their mpdata file regularly.

well, i have a profile that was "corrupted". i had the game in one OS, while i ran the game from another OS from another hard drive and it coruppted it. how do i fix it then?

Restore the corrupted file and try it with the hard drive and O/S configuration that last worked. Use Easy Transfer / Easy Upgrade (EA) or try what RusCheater2 said.
