View Full Version : Deleting your own threads and posts....

MPC has been set so you may delete your own posts and threads. Don't abuse this. Only use it if you double post or spam threads or something like that. This is enabled to help fix the problem with multiposting of threads when it fails to load and people hit refresh several times.....
To delete a multi posted thread or anything of the sort, you should click edit, and check the delete box and hit the delete button. Once this is done, the post is gone. If the post is the first in a thread, the thread will be deleted.
If this is abused, you will be warned or banned. It is here to help fix a problem, not cause new ones....
Other than that, hope it is helpful. WooolF was gonna install some new hack, but found it easier just to enable the already installed vBB feature. So, if you have any questions about it, contact any of the Admins, Gmods, or Mods.

Nice job hebe, i hope as well that people will not abuse this feature and delete threads, is there a way that you could possibly set a time limit? Like maybe users cannot delete their own threads after 24 hours like it was with the edit time?

Nope, we looked into that..... However, once someone can no longer edit their post, then they also can't delete it, so that should be fine.....

can a different person from the one who started the thread delete the thread?

Only the starter of the thread can delete the thread. A Gmod or Admin can also delete it, as well as the Mod of that forum, but for normal users only the starter of it.
Here is how it works so far:
If you go into edit on your post, you can chose to delete your post. If the post is the first in a thread, then the thread is deleted as well. However, 2 days after you make a post/thread you can no longer edit that post or thread. Due to not being able to edit it, you also won't be able to gain access to the delete button for that post/thread. If you delete a thread, you can still delete another one, it just has to still give you access to editing. Which as I said goes away 2 days or so after oyu make it.

You have 2 days after every thread/post you make to edit that thread or post. Simple as that is what we trying to say.....

I have new ideas.
I think the limit for editing should be about a month, but the deleting should be the same. I had to update something in a thread that was over 2 days old and I didnt really want to spam so I had to make a new post. :/
Just thought Id let ya know.

Ermm...is a week not enough? I would think that 7 days is more than enough to edit it, especally since most people want to edit their posts to change "teh" to "the" or w/e.

If you delete a post, then it will be subtracted from your post count I believe. However, if you are spamming, it is likely you will get warned, which is a lot worse than losing a post or two......
