Attachments?

Im not a newb or anything, Im actually a pretty advanced coder.But I'm new to this forum and I'm wondering how you attach files correctly, I tried once with the browse and attach button at bottom of screen but when I send only the text goes,the file wont show up.Hope this isn't wasted space,maybe this will help other people that are new to this forum too.
