Ratings

Code Issues
Graphics: 9 - The volume of new content for the expansion pack is impressive; whole new cities, sadly non-playable in multiplayer, have emerged for it.

Audio: 9 - As good as ever; the music gets repetitive, though.

Interface: 8 - Some distinct improvements to Warcraft III's interface help a great deal, like being able to see creeps on the minimap.

Play Issues
Solo Play: 9 - The gameplay is as good as ever and the new campaigns are creative and varied. Scaled difficulty in single player custom games is icing on the cake. If it had shipped with the whole bonus campaign, this would be a "10"

Length of Play/Replay Value: 8 - It brings a passel of new content to a game that most readers have probably already played into the ground.

Multiplayer: 8 - A few improvements on the minimap, plus the ability to hire different combinations of heroes (including some creative neutral mercenary types) flesh out the multiplayer experience.

Learning Curve: 8 - More accessible than the original, if only because players of this have almost certainly learned Warcraft III already.

Other/Notes
Documentation/Other: 7 - CD dust jacket cover manual. Pretty standard expansion-fodder, in other words.

Pros: It adds meaningful content and imaginative campaigns to a game that was already pretty solid. Some game developers would've packaged this as a sequel.

Cons:The increasing focus on micromanagement continues unabated.

Overall: 9.0
