is there any possible way to change your IP address if you have DSL?

IF your isp is like mine you can just disconnect for about 2 mins and log back on the net and that can change your ip. But it matters if your ISP has static for dynamic Ip's. Ive also heard of proggys you can use to change your Ip but have never tryd them. Hope that helps

you can always just use a proxy, but that will probably mean you will get a slowdown.

withot a router (i.e most configurations)
NT/XP/2K
start...run.."cmd"
ipconfig /release all
ipconfig /renew all

9x/ME
start...run.."winipcfg"
click on release all
click on renew all

...if that doesn't work...

go in to the network control panel, go into the properties for you NIC. look for a setting to change your MAC address. change it. After a few days you should be able to restore your card to the original MAC address and get a new IP.

Usually changing ur DHCP server changes it for Cable although i'm not exactly sure about DSL. Your best bet would be to call up ur ISP and ask them if you have a static or dynamic IP and ask how long you have to disconnect for you to change ur IP if you have a dynamic IP. It really does change from ISP to ISP.

If you have a static IP just tell your ISP people keep threatening/actually haking/dosing you. Or some crap like that. It just might work.

what about IP spoofing?

Not everyone can get ip spoofing to work (for technical reasons and simply for not understanding), but depending on how you can achieve it, you can end up with a lot of bandwidth being used on the spoofing alone.

As for dynamic IPs... you don't need to wait for two minutes or whatever before you reconnect.. The moment you reconnect you will have a different ip.

As for static IPs... They will not change when you reconnect... Try what the guys said above, they know what they're talking about ;)

I have a static IP here. I use KLC Consulting's smac1.1 to change one number in my mac adress, reboot, unplug the power from my cable-modem for 10 sec. When XP has rebooted, i get a new Static IP that I'll keep for as long as I want.

Hope it helps someone. I didnt read the complete thread, just Dark_Blaze's post. So sorry if I'm off-topic.

Call your ISP, I have never seen one that won't change your IP.... Just tell them you are being harassed by someone on the internet or something.

hrm once I was playing around with changing my IP and I don't know WTF happened but for some reason I got 2 IPs, the wierd thing was my bandwidth was split between them, I have no idea how it happened and I can't seem to be able to duplicate it now :(

luck777jojo: we have the same ISP, only way to change your static ip now is to spoof your mac adress. And the easiest way I found was that little program i talked about here in this thread.

Been using it for 8-9 months now. Everytime PB guid bans me in AA, i change my IP. And I've evaded their permanent ban 10 times now.

I feel sorry for people with static ip's ... dynamic is the way to go :P If you have static IP you need to get that changed ASAP.

Try changing your network card's Media Access Control.

This can be done on some cards... also you can search around for programs to do this.

And of course there is the change network cards way.
