How does halo ban?

I am just wondering if it is by MAC address, ip, profile, cd key or something else. I dont think it is those listed above, but does anyone know. My bro is a tker, and tends to get banned. (also the fact that I tend to cheat once in a while...)

The servers ban by cdkey. How do I know this? I have a few keys and I've gotten into a server that I was just banned in by changing my key. This sucks of course because there's really nothing you can do short of buying another copy of the game to get unbanned.

I'm not sure how long the bans last for, so you might try rejoining the server in a day or something, unless they are perm bans. Anyone know if thats the case?

Oh. darn. I guess there is about to be some trouble between me and my brother. all the servers he has gotten me banned from...

It depends on the server admin as to how long the ban lasts. The Dedicated Server init file allows you set levels for autobaning for TK'ing, normally set to ban you for 5 minutes after the first 3 TK's, repeat offenders are then banned for 1 day and then indefinetly. However the server admin can change these levels to whatever they want (upto four difference stages). There is also often a grace period, where if you commit a few TK's within a few seconds they will only count as one. And finally some servers remove TK points if you don't reoffend within a set time period.

However if the server admin bans you directely using rcon then they choose the length of ban when they do it, with the default being indefinte.

i hate tkers i mean every time i go into a server theres tkers and i cant even get out of the base becouse of them and theres nnever any admins. i mean they ruin the game for the rest of us players
