change the shop#.txt and add correct item codes

make sure IIS is installed to continue, else this user might not exist, the full name of the user is Internet Guest Account
You should install IIS(Internet Information Services).
Go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Add/Remove System Components and check the Internet Information Services(IIS), click next

as I said, it's a Windows Component and you can find it on your WinXP cd.
Just do what I've writen in my previous post.

If you can't find it, then just try to borrow it from a friend or sth, because without it you won't be able to install it.
IIS can't be downloaded from web.

I don't think so ^_^
Just do everything that is written in the guide.
Then just give the IP your server is on to your friends and wait for them to connect ^_^
(Of course if you want to change more advances settings, like jewel succes rate or sth similar, then you'll have to play with some files a bit, but it's not that hard ^_^)

let me ask you one thing, which server are you trying to connect to?
you have to make sure that the clients version is the same as the server version
for example 0.96y client won't connect to 0.97 server and 0.97 client won't connect to 0.96y server.

1st. I'm not a genius ^_^
2nd. my server is down due to some problems with my ISP (hate 'em) ^_^;
3rd. yeah, muKidz is a crappy server, low exp, crappy items in shops, and laggy

I'm trying to run a Private Server for MU, but I cant restore the mu database, because i dont have the db files!!!

you restore the databases from the files in 'db baks' dir.

Guide on how to connect to private server:

If you want to connect to a private server, instead of a global one, then:

1. Download korean or chinese client (0.96y)
2. Download the 0.97 patch for it.
3. In KOREAN ver:
I. create a shortcut for main.exe, click right on it, select properties and in "Target" add:
connect /u<IP> /p<port>
so it looks like this
(...)\main.exe connect /u<IP> /p<port>

Change <IP> you put the servers IP, and <port> to the server's port (usually 44405)

e.g.
(...)\main.exe connect /u24.1.159.168 /p44405
would be for MuUnlimited

II. Run the game from this shortcut.

4 In CHINESE ver:
I. open partition.inf file woth notepad, and add a line:
<servers name> <IP> <port>
e.g.
MuUnlimited 24.1.159.168 44405
(a good idea would be to delete everything in this file before you add lines, because you might get confused which server is which)
You can add many servers like this, just add another line.

File>Save as

II. Now run the game from mu.exe, select the left button, and then the button with the name of the server you want to join.

If you don't have an exdb.bak, then just skip this step, 'coz it's not needed.
All the needed files are in the archive, not even one is missing.

I download server 0.97 files from :http://republika.pl/anime_maniac/Mu97Server.exe(I installed them in D:/muoserver/)
Then I installed SQL from : http://download.microsoft.com/downl...973/SQLEVAL.exe
and followed the instructions from here : http://members.lycos.co.uk/metasha/
But when I got to : "Create another database, name it ranking ... point below D:\MuServer\DB\ directory. Do the same for the exdb database" I simply could find
DX_ExDB.bak .... hmmm and when i read that guide tothe end I realized that i dont even have the Web Account registration files :D, could somebody try to explain me my failure and share the link with Account reg. files ....
/Sorry for my bad English/

First, read the earlier posts.
I've already said that if you don't have the exdb.bak then you don't need it. This guide was written for 0.97 server files AND 0.96, where the exdb is needed

Noooooooo, i'm still getting some errors.
I think that is something wrong in the command line of the 4th and 8th links.
Here are the command lines of my links.

4th link (JoinServer)

D:\MuServer\JoinServer\JoinServer.exe /p55970 /ca<My IP> /cp55557

8th Link (GameServer)

D:\MuServer\GameServer\GameServer.exe <My IP> 55970 <My IP> 55960 55901

Do I have something wrong in the command lines??? Pls help me people!!!!
If U can, explain me what is everything in those command lines, pls (i mean the Syntax)

Oh, I'm fixed the problem. Now GS works!!!!
But i run the server in a PC with 256 Mb RAM only!!! lol

You have to configure the Ranking Server before running GameServer, and review the 8th link properties, the IPs and the ports in the shortcut.

I think it's too difficult for me to change the server name, because i dont know anything in hex-editing. But I have another problem!!! Im playing in my server, and I cant warp to another world!!!! do u know why?? I type for example, /move Lorencia and nothing happens.

Should I change item level to 12???

I have a question about monsters in Lorencia.
I realized that, in the little horn cow warriors, (not the elite ones), there r a few monsters called "Death Bone", and a huge skeleton with a BOB, called "Death King"!!!! It's that normal???
Pls reply me, I think these monsters r too strong for beginners :D

find in the file:
strSQLQuery = "INSERT INTO MEMB_INFO (the rest of the account query)
change it to:
strSQLQuery = "SET IDENTITY_INSERT MEMB_INFO ON INSERT INTO MEMB_INFO (the rest of the account query)

I'm sure its a language conflict. The SP1 u r trying to install is different language of ur operating system.
If u r using Windows XP english, u must do dl the english SP1
If not, u can try re-downloading the file, but i'm almost sure that is the language problem.

Make a shorcut to main.exe and go to properties
In Target field u must go to the end of command line and write connect /u192.168.0.99 /p44405 <<---For ur server
So, u should have sth like this in target field:

"C:\Mu097\main.exe" connect /u192.168.0.99 /p44405
And when u enter the game, u will see ur server
I think partition.inf file is only for launchers, really i'm not care.

You are using another MU Registration files, man, cuz regcheck.asp doesn't exist in my PC. I have a file called reguser.asp, I guess u r using the Account Maker from Buenos Aires, Argentina, don't u?? hehe
I recommend u to download this: http://republika.pl/anime_maniac/MuReg.rar
It works perfectly!!!
And later, replace the original file with the one im attaching here

Don't worry, just write "(local)" (without quotes) in server field, it works fine.

No, u can't, MU Online is a Multiplayer Massive Online RPG, and nProtect GameGuard updater must be able to connect to internet.

U must use the IP that appears in ipconfig.
And u must run the server links like this:

1st - DataServer 1.
2nd - DataServer 2.
3rd - ConnectServer.
4th - JoinServer.
5th - MU Event Server.
6th - DevilSquareRanking Server.
7th - ExDB Server.
8th - GameServer.

If u run it one by one, it should work fine.
And if u can't see ur server, only exit and re-launch mu client.

noob question:
i already have files on D, there isnt another choice or the server MUST be on D?

and there is some way to make a lan server? lol its impossible i think

First, If u don't have a D physical drive, just make a folder named "D" in ur C drive.
Now run "subst D: C:\D"
And after a few seconds, u will see a D drive in My Computer. I suggest u to run that command line before running server files.
I think this would help u

yeah i know, BUT i have 2 HD, if i run the server from D(that has another files, not only the server) wat happend? the another files will be delete

it is cuz in my D driver i have many other files, so isnt a empty driver, there are some important files and i dont wanna lose this files.

Don't worry! If u have another files, simply extract the server files from zip to ur d: drive and enjoy! :D
The files won't be deleted unless u don't delete them.
U don't need to format the disk or do anything.

Hi,
when i trayd to confic a Muonline database in option section i get error. Beafor error pic (http://www.hot.ee/mikuhirm/Errors/error.JPG) , and fith error pic (http://www.hot.ee/mikuhirm/Errors/error1.JPG)

So, what i'm doing rong? :tired:

On pic befor error, u see box, where is writted location "D:\muserver\db\MuOnline_log.ldf", but this "db" dir is empty. Is that normal?

And 1 problem/question more, do enyone have Mu98Server? i founded only 97, but this1 is old or what? :squareeye

MikuHirm, i got the same error trying to setup my server a few months ago.
Do u have a D physic drive or it is a logical drive???
I got that error because I was trying to restore the database to a D: drive that didn't exist. I have the server files in C:\D\muserver.
So I fixed the problem changing D:\muserver to C:\D\muserver in the "Move to physical file" column.
I hope this should help u.
If the "db dir" is empty, its normal.
And there isn't any good Mu98 Server files. There is something but its all bugged

I looked around the forums if anyone asked this, and I couldn't find so I decided to ask (sorry if someone else asked)

Well, whenever I click on the 8th link shorcut for gameserver.exe , it pops up with a message that says "commonserver.cfg file not found" (yet server runs fine)
[for the commonfile.cfg I need to modify IPs, but what IPs and with what? Everything works fine except the modifications I add to the game do not get implemented like the selling of chaos's or legendary armor)

Also..I click on the chaos goblin and it doesnt' work...

Also...my server works but I can't get merchants what I want them to sell. Like I erase the number codes already there and I replace them with other items, but when I logon, the same items from before are there.

Hmmm, that's strange... i think u should create a new commonserver.cfg file.
If ur server is 0.97, get this file and copy it to ur "data" folder inside ur muserver folder.
Anyway, r u sure the shop files and the config file (commonserver.cgf) r in the correct folder? should be \muserver\data
Ok, if u copy this file to ur data folder, at least chaos goblin will work. :)

Don't try to download 0.98 server files, all of them are bugged like hell. I thin is better run a 0.97 server which works fine than run a 0.98 server that won't work smoothly!!! :ermm:
Anyway, its ur choice, if u can find a 0.98 server files, try to setup a 0.98 server, and test it for bugs :)
Well, another thing, I think i must to substitute Neko in this thread. I know a bit about setup private servers, but not too much like Neko.
Anyway, i will help if i can.

For Ranking Errors, u must make sure u had edit the svconfig.ini file in RankingServer folder. U must check all the config files, the 4th and 8th shorcuts. If u have everything correct, it MUST run correctly!!!

Anyway U can setup your server without installing IIS, cuz IIS is only necessary if u like to have a web page for creating accounts. Its helpful, but if u cant install it dont worry too much

Have u copied the SQLEVAL.exe file to ur Hard Disk drive??? u can try to burn it to a CD and test again, that's strange, I think the file should be corrupted. :ermm:

hi can you tell me how to solve this problem???
When i went to restore database on muonline they wrote this:
File 'MuOnline_dat' cannot be restored to 'D:\muserver\db\MuOnline_data.mdf'.Use WITH MOVE to identify a valid location for the file.
File 'MuOnline_log' cannot be restored to 'D:\muserver\db\MuOnline_log.ldf'.Use WITH MOVE to identify a valid location for the file.
RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

That error appears when u dont have a physical D drive. I only have one HD and I got the same error as u. U must to create a virtual D drive.
First, create a new folder un ur C drive, named p.e, D.
Now, go to DOS Command prompt.
write: subst D: C:\D (or the folder name u choose)
and in the restore database, u must change D:\ to C:\D\

why i alway can not connect to my server.when i run my server it show success all but y my client can not jion my server.some one help me pls.thank in advance

If u r using the "shorcut to main.exe" method, u should make sure u have the correct IP writed. It must be like this:

"C:\Mu\main.exe" connect /u<IP> /p44405

Anyway, check if u have the correct client version for ur server.
If u r running a 0.97 Server, i will need 0.97 Client (logical):D
And, If u r running a 0.96 Server, i will need 0.96 Client (logical too)
U should give some details more.

It shows a "You are disconnected from the server" message or "New version of game is required..." or any message? :ermm:

Setting Up GameGuard server:

*You will need apache server for this (iis wont do)*
[if u are running iis u need to free port 80 - change IIS' port to 81 or sth]

1. To get an apache server, go here:
http://httpd.apache.org/

2. install apache (set it as a service)
3. in the name and domain field type your IP
4. set the port to 80 (not 8080)

5. now go to
C:\Program Files\apache2\Htdocs
and move the files to a new folder like Backup or sth

6. create the following folders (they must be created EXACTLY as shown)
first make GameGuard folder and inside that make RealServer

7. Now download all these files:

8. Edit the httpd.conf file, and change "Listen 80" to "Listen 127.0.0.1:80"

9. Then, open HOSTS file and add these lines:

(change 127.0.0.1 in steps 8 and 9 to your lan ip)

problem is that we cant find the following:

stuff in step 3 and 4

and we cant also find the hosts file in step 9
meaning we cant add the following

127.0.0.1 gg.muchina.com
127.0.0.1 ogg.muchina.com

(change 127.0.0.1 in steps 8 and 9 to your lan ip)

OK, I think u must to set steps 3 and 4 in the installer program, so search for that options :)
And the hosts file, u can locate it in Windows folder.
If u r using Win XP, go to Windows\system32\drivers\etc
If not, u always can trying searching it in "Search" ;)

hey i have a quick question...I would like to host a private server (like many of you all here) but i'm stuck with a 650K DSL Line and 150K Upload. Is it okay for me to host a Private Server of MU for only 2-8 People without Lag?

Yeah, I guess so. I have a 300Kb/s cable connection and me and 7 friends more played together and there was no lag.
And you have 650K?? hehe, then you know... your connection (i think) could support more users.

How do you update the 0.96 with the 0.97 update and then use the translator?
:ermm:

First, extract the 0.96 to any folder.
Later, extract the 0.97 update to the same folder (you need to overwrite some files).
Now, extract the translation to folder Data\Local, inside the 0.97 client.
P.e C:\Mu097\Data\Local
Extract and overwrite those files and you will have the client translated to English!
Very easy!

I guess you are trying to add new accounts.
It seems the username and the everything is already in the database.
Try to use another username or you can go to SQL Enterprise Manager and open the PK_MEMB_INFO and VI_CURR_INFO tables. You should check the SQL logins.

How can i change the ingame server name? like in the MU_Global, the have Wigle & Maya...

Use the bmddecompiler, and later, a hex editor to edit the file Text.bmd. There you will find the Server name, default is "(Server)"
You can now edit it, and change it to your favourite Server Name.

That question isnt about private server, but its called Muproxy. Just search for it on Google and download it, then follow the Readme instructions.

As for the web connection, I am also lost. I managed to get my IIS working, but all the IPs configured for my Mu server are all local LAN IPs i.e. 192.168.xxx.xxx. The guides did now teach how to host the gameserver over the internet. Even if u managed to get the website linked to the gameserver, external players can't connect to your gameserver..... :( Hope som 1 can help me

Hmmm, it's the fist time i heard from "Web Connection"
You mean, connect to ur mu server from a web page?? i guess that's impossible.
Maybe there is some way, using command scripts or something like that, but i don't know how to make it to work. Again, i think that's impossible.

I found a private server in this forum, I registered and played, the version is 0.97
I noticed thier dragon invasion, the dragon is golden and drops kunduns, unlike in my server, the dragon is red, and dont drop kundun. how do can we do that? thanks in advance! :D

First, You must activate the Golden Monsters Attack.
Open commonserver.cfg and search for "IsEleDoradoEvent" or somethink like that.
or GoldenMobInvasion, i dont remember it very clearly. If the value is 0 change it to 1
And u will have the golden monsters attack event enabled. (It includes Golden Dragon, Golden Tantarus, Golden Lizard King, Golden Soldier, Golden Titan, etc).
Second, there IS NOT 0.98 server files. the client is available at the official muonline website, i think its version 0.98u
I guess the version 0.99 is near in mu international, and 0.98 server files will be released.
And 0.99 client only exists in korean version, i have heard somethink about it.

The IIS thing, u should explain a little ur problem, hehe :P

And yeah, Neko is no longer answering emails, PMs or browsing this thread. That's a pity :cry:

I followed the guide,

Open Internet Services Manager. Browse to Default Web Site, right mouse button on it and choose New -> Site
If this action doesn't appear, simply rename the Default Web Site to, p.e, MuOnline. *I RENAMED IT BECAUSE THE "New -> Site" is not available*

Click Next <-- for this, I right clicked MuOnline and select Properties, Then... and choose a Description for the Site (whatever you like), click Next and choose the IP Address and the TCP Port to use Here, of course my IP Address(i choosed for IP Address 192.10.10.199 and port 8090, so if i want to connect to my site i type in IE http://192.10.10.199:8090 ), click Next and choose a path that will hold the MuOnline Web Registration files (i used the default folder, C:\Inetpub\wwwroot, but you can use the folder you want. Click Next 2 times and Finish.
Right mouse button on your Site description (mine is MuOnline) and choose Properties, then browse to Documents tab, click the Add... button enter index.htm press OK and move it to the Top, then click OK to exit:

Unzip the Web Account registration files to D:\MuReg\ (or the directory you choosed) and edit conn.asp and change
connstr = "driver={sql server};server=192.168.0.2;uid=sa;pwd=pass;databas e=MuOnline"
to
connstr = "DSN=MuOnlineReg;"
then point to http://192.10.10.199:8090 and test the creation of accounts.

Let's see... it seems u have a ODBC data sources error...
First, check if u have configured the ODBC data sources correctly. (Notice that u must have a "MuOnlineReg" system DSN) Second, check if you have selected the (local) server in the ODBC thing. And, have u edited the conn.asp file?

Please, use my guide. It's better than muguide.prv.pl one, I think.
There are a few screenshots and some noob steps, hehe.
If u don't want errors setting ur mu server, read my guide.
I set up my server with that guide and it works perfectly!!!

As we all know, GameGuard's not working.
I have heard the gg server went down :cry:
Does anybody how to set up the gg server? I have apache installed, gg files and i have edited hosts file.

AlphaDW, in your guild, the only step I didn't do (other than no IIS & GameGuard) is the "Internet Protocol Properties" part, how to get in there?

i'm trying to connect the server I'm running on the same computer (LAN) someone told me to use default IP 127.1.xx.xx, I tried, didn't work.

Here are the things I tried so far:

For open TCP/IP Properties, follow this:
Go to Control Panel.
Now, open Internet Connections (or something like that).
Go to ur connection properties.
Click in Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.

Anyway, u must input the IP u got in IPCONFIG
Have u tried to use "localhost" as IP?? in the main shortcut if u write "connect /ulocalhost" it works too.

I have discovered a very simple method for gameguard to work.
I have downloaded Mu global (ver 0.98g)
I have edited hosts file and added two lines:

127.0.0.1 localhost
203.81.43.71 gg.muchina.com

And i copied all files from its GameGuard folder (the muglobal one) to the one i use to connect to my server or some private servers more. (v 0.97)
And IT WORKED for me!!!!
U should try this, could work for u, too!!!

I changed all the IPs to the one I found from IPCONFIG
In "Host File" I changed the "local host" IP too.
I tried the "ulocalhost" in my main.exe shortcut.
I also tried disabling my firewall.
My SQL Server Service Status is "Start/Continue"
Under "Network Connection" I have 2 connections - "Local Area Connection" & "1394 Connection" When I tried this step

Under "1394 Connection -> Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) -> Property" I still have Internet Connection but still get DC at boat screen.

Sorry man, it's very very strange! I think you should check carefully all the config files, like commonserver.cfg, svconfig.ini in RankingServer folder, CS folder, etc. Also check the System DSN links in ODBC.
If u can't find the error, *sigh* uninstall and reinstall everything.
And in the TCP/IP u must select to get an IP automatically, same with DNS

You must to edit the shop files where there are jewels.
Locate the jewels and change the durability (255) to p.e, 1 or 100, that's ur choice.

Do You have the Muonline global installed? u can click on Options, and then set the resolution to an higher value.
If u are using a Launcher, same, select an higher resolution.

Seems that you get along very good with mu server.

Can you ansewer these Please :

1. I' VE READ THE GUIDE http://pawel_krol0.fm.interia.pl/guide.html#items
BUT I HAVE THE SAME FROM http://www.muguide.prv.pl/

2. IN THE GUIDE FOR GM CHAR SAYS *GM caracter is unable to use the /warp (/move) as a normal user would. he has to use GM command* WHAT IS THE COMMAND. AND IF TRY ONLY THESE WORKS :

/Trace (charname) = teleport GM char to a user
/SetBlock (charname) = ban user
/UnsetBlock (charname) = unban user
/disconnect (charname) = disconnect a user
/disablechat (charname) = chatban(disable chat) a user
/enablechat (charname) = remove chatban from a user
/GuildDisconnect = disconnect whole guild
/GuildWarEnd (guildname). Ends guildwar(decide the outcome based on points)
/GuildWarStart (guildname) = starts the war
/GuildWarStop (guildname) = just stop the war

4. MY SERVER WORKS FINE WITHOUT LAGS, AND HAVE 127 ACOUNTS PLAYING.

5. THE PROBLEM IS THAT BOTH GM AND OTHER CHARS CAN'T PASS THE GATE AND GO TO ARENA. WHERE CAN I FIND THE FILE THAT HAS THE ARENA (MAYBE IS CORRUPTED)

6. the Success Rate isn't Changing (useing hex editor). THE GUIDE SAYS :

Changing Success Rate for Jewel of Soul:
*You'll need a hex editor to do this*

1. Open your hex editor, then open gameserver.exe in it.
2. Look for this: 83 7D FC 32 in the file.
3. Change 32 to any value(in HEX) you wish for the FAILURE rate.
4. If you wish to have 95% succes rate, then (100-95)% = 5%. 5 in HEXA is 05, so you input 05 instead of 32.
e.g. 15% success rate is 83 7D FC 55 (55 in HEX = 85 DEC)
e.g. 99% success rate is 83 7D FC 01 (01 in HEX = 1 DEC) ^^

BUT DOESN'T CHANGING.

GM move command:

/move <charname> <mapnumber> <xpos> <ypos>

I think Arena map is number 6. With GM u should type, p.e:

/move GMaster 6 12 12

And, about the success rate for soul, i dont know, that's strange, I think i have the same problem as u.

I set up my server twice, from LAN IP to INTERNET IP, still no luck... The reset page I followed and made was running fine, but only inside my cafe... people outside cant access my MU web page. I have no idea on how to deal with these things... please more help...

My Computer Info:
An Internet Cafe server.

My IP does NOT change, I have a unique IP Address.

My Computer have 2 LAN cards, 1 for Internet Connection coming in and 1 for distributing internet connection to LAN computers...

I have a Switch... (works like a hub)

My internet speed is 512kbps

My computer, hehe... really fast in everything... :)

I think u should set up the server with the ragezone's router guide. I dont know how to set up a server in LAN and Internet. Search in ragezone too. I guess they have the answer to ur question :)

When u r hitting a monster, u do dmg at it, but when the monster dies, it dont give u any experience or zen, only it drop items, and sometimes.

Im Having a problems connecting with my server because of GameGuard! I had an edited main.exe file that jumped the gameguard not even showing it... just going directly to the game... although the version of the main.exe is 0.97.2.0 and the one needed to connect to the server is 0.97.0.0 right? so i was wondering if anyone had an edited main.exe of the version needed or atleast teach me how to skipp gameguard without having to make a GG server...

But, It have some fails.
When u click "Select Server" or "Switch Character", it exits to Windows.

The GM Command "trace" is very simple to use.

u write /trace <charname> and u will appear in the same point as the character whose name u wrote. (Case sensitive)

Example. U want to "teleport" to a character named "HaCkEr". Then u write:

/trace HaCkEr

And after u push ENTER, u will be "above" him.

I have been using it and it's very useful.

Potion Bug - Open GameServer.exe with an hex-editor. Change "C7 45 94 00 00 40 40" to "90 90 90 90 90 90 90". It works!

I need some help i'm trying to the server on my pc not my bro i did do it on my bros but bros pc is f*cked up and when i press on my local server in sql server enterprise manager it says "a connection could not be established to (local).
Reason: SQL Server does not exist or access denied
ConnectionOpen (Connect())..
Please veify SQL Server is running and check your SQL Server registration properties (by right-clicking on the (local) Node) and try again" WHAT DO I DO :(

Try to uninstall and reinstall SQL Server. Don't forget to make a backup of muonline and ranking databases!
Check if you are using SQL authentication mode or Windows auth. mode.
If You are using Win auth mode, u must to login using an Administrator windows account.

what is Check if you are using SQL authentication mode or Windows auth. mode.

Open Enterprise Manager > Security > Logins

And search for the login you created, and go to its properties.
You can't do this because you can't view the server "folders".

I don't know, reinstall SQL Server, then.

When i try to login in to my server it gives me the loginconnect falied or whatever after link 8 starts up andyone now why? I have checked my IP's and everything they are all right

Check again 4th and 8th shortcuts, all IPs and ports, if they are right, it must work.

4th link: Joinserver.exe /p55970 /ca<IP> /cp55901

8th link: GameServer.exe <IP> 55970 <IP> 55960 55901

Ports number must match the ones above.

I got a problem with my IP. I am using DSL cable and when I type ipconfig. It showed that my ip is: 10.0.0.17. I think that it is only local ip address and my server works for only this ip address. Of course, this is a LAN. So anyone can help me to find out what is my ip address so that I can make my server work correctly.

I don't know this very much, I think u must set up ur LAN server with the Ragezone's Router Guide.

Definitely, You have a router. Go to Ragezone and set up ur server with the Router guide u will find there.

SRY that what I ask u doesn't belong to the theme of your topic.... but nobody paid attention to my topic....
I have some problems with the connection. When I launch Mu there's no button " connect ".
But when I use MuPie it connects perfectly!!!! but game hack detected...=(
Does anybody know where I can change the connection adress???

Hehe, the same happened to me.
That means u are banned from MU.
Use Muproxy and disable 1 hithack. U know, in the .bat file, , u must change hitcount to 1 or 10 as max.
And delete the "1hitkill" parameter.

But, if u have dynamic IP, u will be able to enter when your IP changes.

How to Setup Web Registration:
Unzip the Web Account registration files to D:\MuReg\ (or the directory you choosed) and edit conn.asp and change

then point to h**p://192.10.10.199:8090 and test the creation of accounts.
Also you can use "MuReg" to create and manage accounts. Get it here

Set the IP for web registration in IIS.
Use ur IP.

And in IE, type http://<ur IP>:8090 (port must be the same as u wrote in IIS)

I think nothing. If in the web u got the "CANNOT INSERT SPECIFIC VALUE WHEN IDENTITY_INSERT IS SET TO OFF" error, just add SET IDENTITY_INSERT ON BEFORE ="INSERT INTO MEMB_INFO (memb_guid,memb___id,memb__pwd,memb_name,sno__numb ..."
Just change &ps_loginname, &ps_password, &ps_nickname, &ps_person_id, &ps_email, &ps_question and &ps_answer to the desired values.

If u can upgrade it, i suggest u 97d, which is better.
About 98, there are a lot of bugs, but new weapons and items.
At the moment, all "98 servers" r 97 modded servers, and there are a lot of fails.
Mussenger doesn't work.
Duel doesn't work.
There is a disconnect bug, when u r walking around, it dc you.
U should know how to fix these bugs and u can install the "98 server".
Anyway, simply backup the database, but i think it's not needed.
Just overwrite ur old server folder, and change IPs in config files.

I think it can be a port problem. If u have a router, u must to open all ports listed in the router guide iat ragezone.
Also, if u have firewall, dont forget to give access to all server programs.

I assume that all the files you are using are not corrupted, or what i call
over hexed, because if it is, then any of these exe files will hang-up.
CS.exe or Gameserver are the two exe files that i know which people are trying to hex.
Just make sure you know what you are doing if you hex, and always do back-up

For turn BC on, goto commonserver.cfg and look for BloodCastleEvent or something like that. Make sure its value is 1.
And, about global message (gold writing), type this in chat box:

hey, i started a server thanks to AlphaDW and his guide, and it works but i get a gameguard error it was posted on around page 8 someone had the same problem as me, but they got the GG 0.97 fix and it works, but they didn't put up a link to where to get the fix :disappoin, i tryed the one from your guide AlphaDW, but i still get the same gg error

If u r disconnected every 2 mins, no.
If u use port 55901 for connecting to server, u will be dc in about 2 mins.
Use port 44405 instead.

The exp and Droprate config are in the commonserver.cfg file.
The exp line is named "AddExperience" or something like that.
And DropRate i think as is.
About the CPU Speed, i dont know... Try to get more RAM and good internet connection...
Also, dont forget to setup windows virtual memory to min, 2 GB!

A lot of these links seem to be out of date now. Like back in the first page of this thread, the link to version 0.96 works, but 0.97 and the translation client don't. :( I'm still just starting out in this forum and as well as making my own server. There are tons of questions I could ask but most of them can be answered amongst the pages of this.

But one question though is what would be good computer recommendations to successfully run a lagless or close to lagless Mu game. Also is there any other 0.97 site I can download it from?

i've been away for bout 2 months seen i last posted on this thread.. i jus dll all the files need , v0.96, v0.97 patch, sql server , server files (as everything in alphaDW's guide) but i have 1 problem.. i cant seem to run the sql server file.. when i open it, a ms-dos windows come out and there's a "-" blinking.. after a while, the thing closes.. can anyone tell me wats rong? or there is a problem with the sql server i dlled.. i appreciate alphaDW's guide veri much.. its good..

the whole file.. i dlled it.. its like all in one file... its "SQLEVAL.exe".. duno y.. i tried opening it with winrar and i see lots of file in it but i cant extract it.. the one i dlled from your guide, the sql server 2000.. let me try re-dll it again

yeah, the file must be corrupted. Download it again, and if u get a corrupted file one more time, try using DAP, Gozilla or GetRight;)

Hi! AlphaDW,ur guide rox! Anyway I managed to get my 0.97 server working about 6 months ago following ur guide, and my 0.97 client logged in without any problems. Now ever since the Nprotect problem arose (I get a garbled chinese msg, stating abt @muchina...etc etc whenever I launch the client), my client can't log on to my local server. So i manged to get hold of a file called np.exe. I run np.exe, then I run my 0.97 client, and the nprotect manages to download files and i get into the MU login screen. It says I am connected to the server. I type in my user name and password and it says "Invalid user account"!!!!!! This is extremely strange, because when i opened up the membr_info in the Enterprise Manager, all my users account are intact, but none of them works when i try to login thru the client. My server files are all working (all 8 links all no errors) so it has definitely got to be the client side problem :ermm: which i dunno wut to do :cry:

Then i managed to get hold of a 0.97d server file set. Everything went fine, and I manged to setup and get all the 8 server links up and running with no problems/errors. Exactly the same problem as above occurs when I launch a 0.97d client and try to login. :cry:

I haf realised that many private servers haf switched to 0.97b-modded client files. Now my questions are:-

1) Is there a way to solve the problems for my 0.97 and 0.97d client problem?
2) or I shld be switching to 0.97b server files like evry 1 else, and if so pls do tell me where i can find a full set of 0.97b server files :ermm:

I think it can be database problem. Try to create a new account.
Or uninstall sql server and reinstall it. Dont forget to backup the databases!
Check ODBC links too
If it dont work, get a fixed main.exe for ur client version.

ermm just to share with u what i've done...

to overcome the gameguard problem i downloaded a main.exe client fix that disables gameguard totally. It is meant for 0.97b BUT if u use a simple launcher it will work wif whatever server versions.

hope i helped =)

btw is ragezone down or izzit just me? *latest* ragezone.com has a bubble bouncing up and down saying welcome to ragezone.

Download mufix.zip, link is at the bottom of my guide ;)

I think ragezone admins are changing forums and something more, dont panic guys :D

yes i did that like 100 times and still the stupid error comes up

i have this other problem in my other computer that dosnt have D:\ drive =P
i made a server in c and this file 8link. wont work its still looking for files in D:\
and its also looking for files that didnt even come with the server files like CheckSum.dat for kor in D:\muserver\data\lang\kor\CheckSum.dat or somthin
and its wierd can you plz help me with these problems ?

U MUST use "subst method" for setting up ur server.

that's the message, i've tried re doing the odbc thingy, i tried doing it from scratch but it only works for like, 1hr, after that, it'll give me these messages...

other than that, i did heavy editing on the shops, and corrected the hex thingy for party zen bug. is it a possibility that i've edited to much, and when it tries to refresh the information, it's too much for it to handle?

Try to run an unmodded GS and with default shops.

I dont know if ASP can be hacked, but my page isn't open to everybody. Only my friends and some people more. Also I have firewall and security stuff.
And u can edit asp pages in frontpage, i like asp for that.

Is It Possible to Create a Mu Online Server w/out IIS Support and only using the SQL Database to input characters on Windows XP Home Edition + Service Pack 2?

I tried before w/Win XP Home and Had no IIS Support and quickly abandoned my little project. I was wondering if SP2 made a big difference or I could possible skip the IIS step since I do not plan on releasing the server to public but only for my little siblings..

Of course yes, you can use MUEditor or MUReg to create new accounts
If u dont want to release ur server to public, u can skip the IIS step for sure.

There isn't such a thing.
Or very hard to find. Don't use trade hacks, u will get banned for sure.
You can use 1 hithack (muproxy), it's safer.

I used the guide in http://www.muguide.prv.pl/ but I don't have IIS so I'll just use Akaruz's account. But when I start it up, 8.lnk gets an error saying
"loginserver failed" or loginserver something... so when I try to open my client, it starts up but in the server select screen, it says You are disconnected from the server. So I can't play... anyone help plz......

I already fixed the LoginServer failed thing.. but now i get another message when I open the 8th link... it says Ranking Server <symbols> so when I tried to play with that error, It still says You are disconnected from the server. And no servers are showing.. just blank... can anyone help

Well u should use my guide...
Anyway, if the error msg u get is about the Ranking Server, there is a problem with the Ranking Server (for sure :P)
Check the ODBC links and the make sure u edited the svconfig.ini file (inside rankingserver folder) (CHECK MY GUIDE for editing that file)
And last, check u restored the ranking database correctly.
Tell me if it works

php is harder to hack for example u can use stat/vault blast and stat adder bug in asp :S better use a very good firewall lol, eventhough u cant deny the stat add bug with firewall :(

If u want to set up ur page in ASP (i like it because u can edit your page in FrontPage), download and install Apache server. Later, download Sun Active Server Pages and install it. Now you can copy the ASP files to the Apache "htdocs" folder.
In PHP is easier. Donwload and install Apache server. Later, donwload and install PHP. That's all

about the whole asp vs php hacking ability.. unless your a n00b you would know that php is extremely easier to hack than asp, with sql injection, not blast. Blast doesnt even touch the website, sql does.

changing your ports wont stop from an sql injection either.

SQL injection consists of making the server think the website is tellling it to do multiple things, not only what it is specified to do. For instance, in a password field, you can modify the source for a php page (im not going to teach you how so dont ask, its highly illegal) and tell it to change your password AND do another command. Php is easier because of the page layout and the similarity to HTML forms. ASP consists of scripts, and most people do not know how to hack scripts, making it harder.

If you want to protect your website against an sql attack, on any type of page, make sure that the submitted pages tell the other page that there can be no ; or ', which is the basis for an SQL attack.

JUst trying to help those who are worried with an SQL attack.

Items are all in english now, but how do i correct the Blood Castle and Devil Square announcements that are all in Spanish? Which file should i edit? i have had no luck whatsoever trying to find the file to make it English. Btw, your guide's great man!

To those that keep getting the download error (GGserver files) (the one that changes some IP's to muchina), theres a .bat file provided by existing private servers, use that "After" you install a fresh "New" client. after running the .bat file, restart your PC, its probably coz your running win98. a friend experienced that too -- Downloading 6/7 Nppptz.NPT or something like that, that crashes then u get GG error.

Well, u must edit the Text.bmd file, which is in data\local, in the client side.
Download a text.bmd file from an english server. In the text.bmd file u can also write the server name which will appear in the button for connecting to server.
U should use BMDEditor for editing that file ;)

Hi, i was using your guide to create a muonline server and it has been very useful
the problem i get is that since i have only 1 hard drive, i have to use the SUBST method to create a D: drive

so i go to command prompt and i type "subst D: C:\D" and it says "invalid paremeter - D:"

is there a way to fix this? am i doing something wrong? is there another way to set up SQL without a D: drive?

any help would be greatly appreciated

ok so ive done everything the guide said, just like you told me on msn, and everything else, and then i start up all the links and everything, then run the game to connect to my server and when it loads up it says "you are disconnected from server"

any ideas? the only thing i've noticed is that the ranking program comes up with an error of some kind that i cant read...everything else seems to be working ok...

edit: ok i fixed the error that was coming up, everything seems to be running smoothly, but i still cant connect to my server....

Do u have a router, man? if u don't have it, check the shortcut to the game, it must be "...\main.exe" connect /u<IP> /p44405

Also, check all config IPs (mainly, commonserver.cfg and muserver\data\lang\kor\commonloc.cfg)

well there was no commonloc.cfg in the kor directory, but there were in other directories. i think it was set up to use one of the other languages. in any case, i changed the ip in the other langs and i found a commonloc.cfg for the kor directory and i put my ip in that too....

as for commonserver.cfg my ip is already in all the spots where an ip would go...

but i still get the "you are disconnected from server" message

gball, i think you got a router, check the other thread for the router guide. be wary tho, if u dont got protection on your pc, you'd get a lot of malicious stuff. trust me, hapend already :P

Search for them in Ragezone. But be careful, the databases 0.97 & 0.99b+ are not compatible, and 0.99b+ server files r all bugged at the moment.

Alpha, where can we get v99+ server files? :) i wanna start testing out v99b and v99j
v0.99 server files? Ask WebZen or Mobius or MuChina, no-one else has them. I would assume you're talking about the 0.97 server files which have been modified to allow players to connect with a 0.99 client, and use some of the 0.99 features (DL, Chaos Castle, etc) - but all such servers are plagued with dozens of major bugs (since it's not designed to work on that version).

If you want a server that's going to cause a lot less work and stress for you (people will complain about the bugs all the time, and lost items, and things not working...) then I would suggest installing 0.97d+0.99 items server (the most stable version atm) - and keep it interesting with regular events and contests, and of course a high level of admin presence (nothing worse than a server without admins/GMs).

UberMu Server Workshop v1.0 and UberMu Client Workshop v1.0 will be released in the next couple of weeks, which should make things a lot easier for most admins :) (New admin system in v2.0 and higher - it's not ready yet unfortunately)

U must edit the idreg.asp file, u can open it with wordpad, or frontpage (chenge then to html view).

And to make exc items, u can put them in ur vault, using mueditor. But exc items don't even drop from gold monsters (gold titan, gold derkon, gold soldier, gold tantarus, etc.) They drop a Kundun box, and if u throw it an exc item will drop.
U can edit the list of exc items that will drop if u use MuBagShopEditor (visit my guide's site for downloading it).
To edit the items

any idea how to make my character in my own private server a GM?

Open SQL Enterprise Manager
Go to Databases -> Muonline -> Tables
Right click in character table and select open -> all rows
Locate ur char. name and look for the column "CtlCode".
Change the value in that column (tipically, <NULL>) for "8".
Reset ur server and u will see ur char in the Character selection screen (in-game), with its name in blue (i don't remember the color hehe), and then, u can use the GM commands.
Note that monsters won't attack u, so u can't receiv any damage, even form other players.
And to move, u must use the /move <charnick> <mapnumber> <xcoord> <ycoord>
To move to Lorencia's bar, type /move GM-Char 0 125 125

I would assume you're talking about the 0.97 server files which have been modified to allow players to connect with a 0.99 client, and use some of the 0.99 features (DL, Chaos Castle, etc) - but all such servers are plagued with dozens of major bugs (since it's not designed to work on that version).

If you want a server that's going to cause a lot less work and stress for you (people will complain about the bugs all the time, and lost items, and things not working...) then I would suggest installing 0.97d+0.99 items server (the most stable version atm) - and keep it interesting with regular events and contests, and of course a high level of admin presence (nothing worse than a server without admins/GMs).

UberMu Server Workshop v1.0 and UberMu Client Workshop v1.0 will be released in the next couple of weeks, which should make things a lot easier for most admins :) (New admin system in v2.0 and higher - it's not ready yet unfortunately)

Yeah, that's true, but if u are assembly programmer, u can setup a 0.99b+ server and try to fix some bugs.
Also, u can setup a local server only for u, with darklord and 0.99 features.
If u want to know how to solve some bugs, go to Ragezone and download the latest server files (they have fewer bugs than another ones, i don't have tested it, but people says they are good ;)

Okay im a noob at this SQL stuff but im gettin a hang of things...
i got my server to run (win XP sp2 no IIS )(cable modem) but my ip changes every time i log on and i have to go and change all my ip in the configs then i can log onto the game...

anyone know what i can do so that i dont have to change my ip all the time in the config files?

also when i log on to play i can only log on for like 1 min then i get disconnected...

anyone know why this is and what i can do to stay in-game longer?

Well, it seems u have a dynamic ip connection, but no problem.
First, create a no-ip dns redirection for ur pc. (Note that the name must be very short, maybe 4 numbers or letters (p.e V4n6), and use domain .no-ip.com
This is because the gameserver and the server programs only can read (i remember) a maximum of 15 characters, so the name must be as short as possible, for example:

VANGMUSERVER.NO-IP.COM

12 characters+1+2+1+2+1+3, total 22 characters.
That redirection can't be used.

And another example.

VANG78.NO-IP.ORG

5+1+2+2+1+3, total14 characters.
U could use that redirection and it's almost sure it will work

Later, download the NO-IP DUC (downloads section)
Install the program and configure it, entering ur no-ip email and password (it's secure, don't worry)
Edit ur muserver config files and enter the .no-ip redirection u created, instead ur real ip.
The DUC program looks for updates in ur IP, so if u have a dynamic connection, the program will automatically update ur host info.

About the disconnection, tell me what server version r u running, pls.

oka ive got a no-ip address now and i went and replaced everything in the configs... now its saying rank error....

so i went back and switch all the no-ip to my ip and it works just fine... but when i switch back to the no-ip it gives me the rank error...

i look into all the server logs and found this in...MuServer\GameServer\log:
LoginServer connect IP[ xxx no-ip org ]
server name not found [xxx no-ip org ; ¶ñÄ]
Whole connection closed

any ideas why this is?

ive fixed the problem why i cant log on for long time... (i was using wrong port)

Make sure u have the no-ip DUC program running and u have it properly configured.
Anyway, check the 4th and 8th links and cfg files

I set up a mu server,i did all according to the guides, but i can not log in.I create account to a registaration page but when i try to connect it says "my account is invalid".I edit the idger but i get the same message.Its a lan server so the problem is not the users from internet to log in.I see at the server screen my username that is trying to connect but at my other pc its says "account invalid".I think i have tried almost everything but it seems i miss sth.At sql query i can see all the accounts i have done,they exist there.But noone is logging in the server.I created a "D" disk with the sub command.I tried with the 97 server files,then i rebuild the server with the 97d.The pc tha hosts the server is pentium2 350 mhz,256mb but i have 8gb virtual memory and server is running,except an error message i get at 8 link"Data message_chs.wtf "or sth.I have MSSQL2000 and winXP2000 server.Any help will be apriciated

:ermm: I tried to run a server (99b). Its run fine. But when i tried to create an account and i tried to login to the server. I could see weird characters in there. And it says "item blocked". What's is this and what should i do? And one more thing, i can't use the port 44405, i am using port 4449 only it connects me to the server.

U must edit the svconfig.ini file, into \muserver\mu2003_event_server\data
And edit the username and password. U must also change the odbc name. It should look like this:

[pim_setting]
queue_no=4
workerthread_no=4

[odbc_connection]
mu2003_dbname = muonline
mu2003_dsn = MuOnline
mu2003_uid = sa
mu2003_pass = ******

Recheck u have all odbc links created and u have specified the SQL server "local" for them to connect.
