i am not personally sure, just try the cd key you have written down,
why would someone want to chuck their box away anyway
there might be something
but for warez issues, try to keep away from "where can i get a new one for free" etc

Bad news for ya.

There is no regedit entry for your CD key. There is only a PID (product ID number) which is generated from your key when you install the game.

So like gregsy said. Why would you throw away the box and write down the key , but not be sure of it lol.

Well if you really want to be sure that its the same key you have installed in your registry now, then there is a way. Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Halo in your registry and export the key to a file by right-clicking on the halo "folder" on the left and selecting export. Then reinstall halo using the cd key you have written down and look in the registry and see if the "DigitalProductID" is the same as it is in your exported file (you can look at the exported file by right-clicking on it and selecting edit and it will open it in notepad). If the "DigitalProductID" is the same then it was the same key you used before. If not, then you can simply double-click on the exported file to put the information back into your registry, and you will still have your key saved, although not in the same form as it was given to you originally.
