my computer gets lag spikes while playing games and when doing prettymuch nothing.. i'v scanned for spyware (spybot, spysweeper, adaware), and virus's (panda av, and norton pro) almost daily, reformatted a few times and its only been 3 weeks since my last format.. i have no idea what the problem is and was thinking maybe someone here could tell me

sys specs

120 gig hd (upgraded a few days before christmas from a 20)
768 ram (upgraded last wendnesday from 256) (256 is ddr pc 2100 forget the make) ( 512 is double sided ddr pc2700 333mhz, kingston)
windows xp
celeron 1.8 ghz
nvidia geforce mx 420 64 mb
donno if i need to tell you anything else.. if you can help please let me know

also it may help to get the windows service updates :) which i havnt had time for yet but there got to be something other than that, that keeps causing lag

Make sure you're keeping spybot, spysweeper, and adaware up to date with the latest refence files. I would also try symantecs online virus scanner.

Did you get all the updates done? Do you have all the latest drivers for your components?
