make sure it's not encrypter or something (advanced options in prefferences)

Heh this happens to me a lot.
Reboot, usually solves the problem. If not, start the computer is DOS mode and voila.
Also make sure it is not a file associated with a program that is running on your computer.

So you went start->run->cmd and then make sure you're on the drive you want (i.e. C:\). Then dir to see if the directory is listed (or get to where it should be listed) then c:\rd "foldername" (for remove directory).
Also have you ran scandisk to check your drive for errors?

did you try deleting everything inside the folder? if you do that you should be able to figure out which file is causing the problem.
Drizzit

i did that. i know what files are screwed up inside of it. but i cant delete them

I might try booting up with a win98 bootdisk, that way you are just using dos without windows running in the background. Then try deleting. If you need a win98 bootdisk go to www.bootdisk.com.

I have this problem frequently... Generally the issue is that something in the folder was running when you tried to delete it and that program stopped running before you try to delete it again. That is what happens for me anyway :x.... Usually I restart and the folder is there or gone and if it is there I just delete it. Hrm, try right clicking it, setting all the flags (hidden, etc...), and then click ok or apply. Then go back in and unclick them all. Then try to delete it. Sometimes setting the flags will make windows realize it isn't there or is there depending on what it thinks beforehand >_<

if they are running just hit ctrl-alt-delete and look for the process name and end the process, then delete it....simple

i doubt it since he already stated that he has windows xp, which means NO DOS. the closest thing you can get to dos with windows xp is the recovery console which is a piece of shit.

hmm if its a program that is using that folder start the computer up in safe mode (F6 or F8 i forgot)
then select the option safe mode with internet...
then you get a graphical interface but windows wont load any program except windows try that, and post if it worked

command prompt is not dos, it is just a simulation of dos.
