Have you cleared the history? The address bar is associated with history.
Internet Explorer: tools->internet options->clear history
Firefox: tools->options->privacy->history->clear

Are you running winxp? If so try delelting it through my computer.
my computer-> tools->folderoptoins->view tab->select show hidden files and folders->apply->ok
Then go to my computer->c:\->documents and settings->your username->local settings->history->ctrl-a (select all)->delete.
YOUR TALKING ABOUT THE DROP DOWN ADDRESS BAR, RIGHT?

Try rebooting then opening IE and tools->internet options->clear history. There's no reason why that shouldn't work.

You could try the registry:
If the cached addresses are still listed in the Address box in Internet Explorer, use the following steps:
Quit Internet Explorer.
Delete all of the values except for the (Default) value from the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs
NOTE: Values in this registry key are listed as Url1, Url2, Url3, and so on. If you delete only some values and the remaining values are not in consecutive numerical order, only some of the remaining entries are listed in the Address box. To prevent this behavior from occurring, rename the remaining values so that they are in consecutive numerical order.

Maybe try running ad-aware or spybot to remove potential spyware that might of hijacked your browser.
ad-aware:http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html?part=69274&subj=dlpage&tag=button
spybot: http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022-10289035.html?tag=lst-0-3
I don't know what else to tell ya, I mean if those reg entries are gone your history should be gone also.

easiest way..... install Maxthon (http://www.maxthon.com/en/index.htm) it's based on the IE engine so it shares most files with it, including adress bar and history
make sure you close all IE windows then open up Maxthon
In maxthon: Tools -> Clean System -> Clean All
close Maxthon reboot, all gone :D

I guess that's what you get for looking up porn! Seriously though if you did what was stated above there is no reason why your history should still be there. I guess you could install a secondary browser like firefox then uninstall IE and reinstall it. That should wipe out all the files and reg entries so you can start off fresh. Just make sure you backup your bookmarks if you want to keep them.
To uninstall IE:
control panel->add/remove programs->add/remove windows components->remove check from IE.
Get firefox here (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/)
Get IE here (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1e1550cb-5e5d-48f5-b02b-20b602228de6&displaylang=en)
Get Maxthon here (http://www.maxthon.com/en/index.htm)

Well, for a quick fix so that no one sees it, just right click on the history, back, forward, stop, etc... toolbar and you have a selection. Uncheck the Pron toolbar and voila! It cannot be seen. Then you can safely do whatever you want without embarrasment until you find out how to get rid of it. (I'm assuming it's your parents comp :laugh: )
