Hi all, i think about every mounth or two you should spend a day doing a Computer health check. But i dont ever no what people mean by this? what things should i run etc, and any other tips you have. Thanks :bunny:

What iam doing almost every couple of days is running anti spyware programs like AdAware , do a virus scan , repair and clean my registry using various tools.

Every week:
Ad-Aware
SpyBot
Kaspersky
Registry clean up
Registry defrag
Hard drive defrag (usually more like once a month)
Then I run some forensics tools to check my security

Registry Mechanic is what i use and also the TuneUp Utils 2004 ;).

when i go out to my bro's tutoring session or someplace else that i know ill be going for a long time, i scan my comp with Norton and defragment my comp (im suprised my shitty 1.6 ghz ((more like 59 mhz))can handle that)
EDIT: never mind i found all things
btw, when i first scanned with nortan, I GOT OVER 5000 VIRUSES AND SPYWARE STUFF ON MY COMPUTER!!!! A NEW RECORD!!!! :P

im going to get adaware, but i use a cookie so i dont ever have to login here, will it destroy that cookie? What is the website for this program?

AVG anti virus
adaware!
stay away from norton it is junk AVG is free the schools use it and it works good
spybot is a good program also
registry tools?
go to start / run/ type regedit
find your prefetch folder and delete files (once a month) will increase your system speed

Norton also checks for Spyware? What version?
2004 Pro. checks for ad-ware too, though you should still check with Spybot and adaware
