Geforce 2 Mx 400 PCI on an AGP computer

Well, my comp is broke and i was gonna take it in, but ME is better ping wise.

512 Sync RAm
1.4ghz Anthlon Xp 1700
40x CD rom speed
16x DVD ROM
32MB S3 Rage4(or was it sage) AGP
XP Home Edition
USB Mouse and Keyboard
80GB

Other comp
AGP Bus
256 PNY RAM(MAX)
633mhz Intel Celron Proccesor

Ok in Counter strike on the other comp it lags every few sec. usually its 70 FPS then when a lotta sound comes BAM. I was wondering if its because its a PCI on an AGP system. I was thinking either i should buy a GF2 AGP, or fix my computer(fast 1)
Yes i updated tha GF drivers ect.I like the slow 1 b/c of the 200 ping i get in game. Compared to 350+ (damn u XP). Well do u think its because of tha PCI?

yeah pci video will cause a higher ping... if it never did it before then i would check and see if you have a program running in the back round that you don't know about. agp will lower your ping though. i can't remeber how much of a deffer, but it is def communicating to the process faster.

they all connect to the same bus, so speed across what maybe an inch at best of wire wont add to a 100+ diff. Its either a spybot or XP's greedy internal settings to sap a solid 40% of your bandwidth so it can phone home with all your private info to Billy not to mention what a Horrendous resource H O G it is... and bloat? hehe dont even get me goin who the hell needs 20 - 30 proggies runnin in the background neway? I used XP once for a few hours sure its nice, just like a big ol fat girl (pardon me) but I for one prefer a quick moving machine. Try the new 98 Lite, it may be a bit difficultr to install the first couple go rounds but its simply amazing, your comp will feel like itson steroids and then some. My total onstal was just over 50mb totaly setup.... Compared to a porky xp at close to or over 1 gig it seems like it cant be operable but it is and does so with all uasuall goodird that a winhor person could want to feell at home and its free!! Not to mention a whole lot more stable

Thnx mate, well haha, i just installed a Geforce 4 Mx420 64mb DDR. i ping doesnt jump anymore. Im using m fast comp now. i got Me in it. a stable 200 ping.

i have an intel vid card...intergrated p.o.s....but i think it is affecting my ping....just to add my two cents.....why would agp lower ping...?...i just lost everything on krazyhawaiins post...ahh....i only have pci slots...whats a better vid card for a pci slot?

Sorry I lost you there, If you only have pci slots then thats all you can use, since a agp card which has almost 4 times the bandwidth across the bus requires a agp slot. The main difference is in how the agp accesses the pci bus, imagain if you will (to make it simple) having only one water hose, you only get so much water from one hose. Now if you had 4 hoses you would get 4 times as much water right? Well thats how a agp card delivers info to the pci bus, its like having 4 data "hoses" instead of only one. Now a myth, agp 4x... or what they call 4x, is just that a myth. All agp slots use agp 2x even though some utilities may say other wise, in reality they operate in 2x mode. I know people are going to argue this but its a hardware flaw that has never been overcome. agp 2x is it, but it's still way faster than pci.
Computers are like women, wasy to piss off (lol) and mo ome understands them hehe, I struggle with some of the theorys and hell I'm a pro, I repair them! and sometimes still come across something that makes absolutly no sense, but in some wierd way it happens and it works.Kinda like windows and mp3's a cd can be full of mp3's yet if you insert it in winbloz and go to explore it winbloz will show a empty cd! (only if you do it thru windoes, if you allow your cd player or music player to do it they show up)
Confused yet? LOL its just how they trick winbloz into playing mp3's it reads data streams not digital audio, odd but thats the "magic?" of winhoes! mabe thats why it is so good at BSODing (blue screen of death) LOL it confuses it self and goes off the pc equilivent of the "deep end" LMAO
Oh and Windows Lite? I love it, its by far the best windows for gaming, incredibly small install size (50 megs) and quite a bit faster than win98se standard. The people that make 98lite are currently working on a version for Win2k and XP, should be out soon, I cant wait! I'll be first in line when they release that, I really like XP and Win2k just dont think I need all that crap MS forces on you when you install. Now you can install win 98 without AOL and Compuserve!!! Ever notice that, even if you make sure that the boxes are not ticked as you do a fresh install windows installs that pesky AOL trash anyway? Plus a whole host of other shit you will never use and it DOES use valuable resourses of yours evem though you dont want it.....

Gee thanx Microslurp, Win XP is the worst example of that with its so called update verification service, in reality it reserves (HOGS) 40% of your TOTAL bandwidth for itself and wont let you see that it is using any at all!!!! Sneaky Bill Gates Spying on all the poor XP users. Beware people you ARE being monitored regaedless of what you think..... Big Brother is here and his name is Bill Gates. There are ways to remove these features but there all risky since windows is built with that feature in it sometimes you can screw up big time and have to reformat, I have witnessed cases where people using nt5 filing system instead of fat 32 have been locked out of there pc TOTALLY by XP to the extent that they had to replace there haeddrive to correct the problem. Mess with XP at your own risk.

Thnx lol thats a lot, well they gave me this BS"u can`t use 98 on your computer, because your on a compaq with 512RAM with 1.4ghz. And its too powerful. DOOD they wouldn`t let me buy 98 in the store! This is total BS.
