I've been working on finding out how some people manage to induce warping around at will, basically giving them an advantage over others who cant hit them.
I came to the conclusion that tricking the PS client into a connection recovery works.
Basically i ran along, jumped, pulled the cable out of my modem, landed, strafed a bit and put it back quickly. The effect a friend say was me warping like crazy.
Pulling a lead out then putting it back is kind of tricky, so i was thinking, what we need is a program that cuts off internet access and can be given a hotkey.
You press the key, it "pauses" your internet incoming/outgoing traffic, you move around behind the enemy clientside, then hit the key again, unpausing. The enemy watching this gets a scrambled view of what happens where all the data arrives to them at once.
People brush off warping as a game issue so easily people wouldn't even accuse you, aside from the odd guy. If this was used carefully it would be a long term hack.
Any chance anyone could create such a program as to do this?
Also the effect of this would be similar to a dogy internet connection and could be overlooked

good Idea, but don't you think that it is more of a hassle?

Have you seen what you can do with this?
See that tank coming towards you? "Pause" run for 3 seconds strafing "unpause" "pause" run again for cover "unpause" he wont hit you.
Is the chance of making such a program possible?
Oh, and while in "paused" mode, all shots that hit the enemy WILL be added ALL at once when you unpause it and continue. In their screen you bounce and warp so they cant hit you, then all your shots hit and they get insta-gibbed.

yeah but. people move when you are unplugged too man. your gonna be shootin at thin air as it goes for all infantry most likely.

No, what I was talking about was how you would make the game pause.

Yes, but the client...on your screen is tracking you hitting them, and because PS ClientSide hit detection is all screwy it still counts.
Although you can do it to get behind them and them take em out.
And Grumpy, is it not possible? In some way?

This doesn't seem like it would be possible. When i try temporarily stopping my connection it comes up with a message saying 'Your Computer has stopped receiving packets from the server' and Planetside doesn't let you move around while its not receiving the packets.
You get about a second before the message comes up, and theres not much you can do in a second.
Maybe you could have something where it stops and starts your connection for you every other second, so it would be a good way to 'warp' away from something trying to shoot you.. or just the confuse the hell out of enemies.

Yeah, just as long as it can be turned on and off.
For example then, press the button ,it alternates between on and off every second until you press the button again and it stops.
Granted there are better hacks, but not for PlanetSide

hmm. well. maybe get a programmer to make a fix for that packet message.

Yeah, or just interupt it several times quickly, it will still have the same kind of effect.
By the way does anyone have any other things in the works for PS?

I'm not sure if you can run WPE pro while in ps, but if you make a filter to block all outgoing packets (Simply achieved by:
create filter,
Set mode to advance
set search for 00
action block
turn on and run)
that should stop your client from sending anything while you continue to recieve information from the server. It might be hard to toggle on and off though, and Planetside may detect it.

you need to be more subtle than that... what you guys are talking about is possible though.

set search for 00
.... wouldnt this search for a packet starting with '0x00'?? so wouldnt you need to make a libry of paket headers or find one value that all packets have in common, or see if putting nothign in the search considers it a found packet.... also.... Yes, but the client...on your screen is tracking you hitting them, and because PS ClientSide hit detection is all screwy it still counts.
wouldnt this mean that you can spoof attack packets?? by simply makeing a filter that would look for packets containing a similar packet header or indexing offset then if the inxed reprsented an attackign packet, the same packet would be spoofed to 5x or 10x, thus providing a '1 hit kill' filer (yes, this idea is an exact replica of the method used by lothi's MU Online 1 hit kill trainer....)

Setting it to advance mode causes any packet that has 00 in it to be caught
(i think all of them do)
Planetside has heavy compression/encoding on their packets

Is anyone else working on other stuff for PS?

I think I remember people doing this in beta/early release (unplugging for 1 sec, plugging it back in), but it was fixed fairly quickly. The "connection lost" window comes up after a few seconds, so you can't do anything.

alright guys lets think simple take out cable unplugging and disconnecting lets go where it begins, there are tons of softwares out there that blocks and opens ports in ur pc, now planetside has its own specific port which runs its data through, now i havent done any research on this its just thinking and no i havent looked at what port PS uses but simple to find out, basicalle creating a software that can open and close the port with a hot key will enable you to engage with ur connection much faster then plugging and unplugging, think about it and let me know...
