The Sims' long-in-the-making face-lift has finally arrived. EA announced today that the sequel to the best-selling life simulation is finally a reality, because The Sims 2 has shipped to stores. "We are excited to have reached this milestone and [are] thrilled to turn over this revolutionary game to our community," said Maxis executive producer Lucy Bradshaw.

I've never played any of the Sims before despite the huge publicity it has gotten.
Could someone comment a little on Sim 2 before I use my precious study time on it? ;)

The graphics are pretty crappy on my P4 2 GHz with Geforce2 MX 400.. It was choppy and the loading takes forever.. Definately need a more high-end PC to play..

Is this game worth getting if you have a good pc? For me, the first sims series got really boring really fast, is this one like that?

ill write about it i have it like a little review...

The first thing i did was make a character its basically impossible to have the same character as someone else. theres 1000s of options to edit your sims and u can make babys toddlers, 13 years old,17(around 17),adults and elders. They are all very different.

to add to that theres also a body shop, were u can make any kind of closthing skin color makeup, whatever u want, its a differnt program to. Its amazing what people do with it. what i like about it is the exchange that comes with it, u can download characters houses and objects etc.
ill leave the graphics as just stunning and amazing...

u can customize the patterns and colors of chairs make ur dream house do anything in your house. theres like 9 differnt tile sections, and about 7-10 differnt wallpapper sections leave it at that theres hundreds of tiles wall pappers windows, doors to customize ur house, how u wanna play.

theres not as many electronics as i thought there would be, about 3 tvs but there SICK u can actually watch the tv there watching like in max payne 2. Theres not like everything, but theres a ton of stuff in this game, and i mean like 100s and hundreds of items.

The sims arnt as dumb anymore! if they have food beds, everyday necessities then theyll survive on there own, but u still have to help them out a little.

Aspirations really add to the game theres two types, career and personal, career theyll give u say a punching bag if u were in the sports career or a lab kit if ur a scientist even a huge obstacle course u can get some chill items. The personal aspirations u can get anything from money trees, free money! to cool electronics, and as your getting points ur putting ur aspiration meter higher so ur sim will be happier and more confident.

Wondering about the towns? you can make your own towns add everything moutanins huge boulders eagles boats Beaches, and parks u can visit CHECK THIS! YOU CAN MAKE STORES, sell items clothes food anything and guess what? if other sims dont like each other here they fight on each other and i mean pound!! haha

To sum it all up its fun to play with out cheats and with them, its a good game i dont play it much because i dont have enough time, there are tons of things to download and the game is so interactive U CAN INTERACT WITH ANYTHING ANYONE, in many differnt ways to... Some sims will even steal from you. Its a great game but not worth it at all if u have a bad pc.
I have a 128m ati 9800 video card, 1.8ghz 256m ram, and it runs ok but my computer needs to be redone so the game doesnt run to good things aroud there should be ok

later ask me questins about it if u want

I'll probably be getting this after I am done with Rome Total War (if I ever get over it.) :)
Hopefully by then exams will be over and I am free to do what I want. Though I dont think my gf would like it too much if I play Sims. I will be a horny sim and interact a lot @_@

But thanks for the 'review', I am getting really interested now ^.^

I got rome total war last night, and although I liked the demo, the full version is a major dissapointment imho, its just not as much fun as the demo was.

Shinosuke

I never tried the demo, what was the difference in them? I guess it's a good thing I didnt try out the demo? I wasnt disappointed since I did not have any expectations O_o
PS: This might get offtopic, better discuss this in the RTW thread in 'other strategy games/mmorpg' ;)

Vf I forgot to tell you, I played it a couple of days ago in PCWorld when I went to buy some hardware for my pc :D

quite nifty, but it's like the old versions, only better graphics and more features, but everything else is the same....

Shinosuke

Sims will only be my 2nd choice, RTW first :)
I might save myself some $$ and not get this one.
I use to like SimCity, and SimTower, those 2 old old ones.. those new 3d stuff just didnt quite appeal to me :/

Dark Blaze

i used to buy expansion after expansion, but it's not worth it as they pack them all up together for like half price... and also as the days go by, they bring new versions out, better ones...

Virtuosofriend
4th October 2004, 16:27

Hey has anyone know if they will make custom objects, i know about the alienware pc made by maxis but do you think they will ever make it so you can custom make your own objects

Dark Blaze
4th October 2004, 21:15
same deal really, alienware just uses software to do it, but it's still software...

Shinosuke
5th October 2004, 01:41
VF, lol, yea, everyone I mentioned my opinion to looks at me wierd.. like 'what?! 2d is better than 3d?' I did the same with SC4, uninstalled after a few hours. As for SC2k/SC3k, I sent months on it, what a freak. ;)

Sims will have mods and custom made stuff soon, probably, just wait for a while..

@DB, haha.. wait a few months when the sales go down a bit, and you can get them cheaper. Especially if you have no sudden intense urge to play it.. just wait till updates & patches & expansions comes out, together ^_^

hmm typo on the previous post. --> *spent

btw, I installed Sims2 last night.. it's not too bad, not too slow on my old computer, as long as i dont play for more than an hour.. which I dont, since the 3d camera gives me headache. (Thats why i cannot play FPS games), so I am ok with it ;)

Im still in the learning phase, dont know much about Sims yet.. will learn how to play more on Sunday. Quite busy working (summer job) lately.
