Matrix Games is proud to announce a new addition to their line of upcoming products. Developers Holistic Design, Inc. have signed on with Matrix to bring the long-delayed Noble Armada, a new game in the Fading Suns line, to the market. Covering interstellar exploration, combat and trade and based on the successful starship miniatures game of the same name, Noble Armada is projected to be finished for Fall, 2002.
"I can't begin to say how excited we are to have Noble Armada back in development," said Holistic Design, Inc. director Andrew Greenberg. "The game had just gotten to an exciting stage when we had to put it aside. We had just released a fun demo that we really enjoyed playing. Now we get to see how much more fun we can make the full game." David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games said, "We feel that our customers are interested in compelling, intelligent subject matter. That's exactly what the Fading Suns universe delivers for science fiction gaming fans. Noble Armada promises great depth of play."
Noble Armada allows players to take on the role of one of four major factions in the Fading Suns universe - House Hawkwood, House Hazat, the Vuldrok raiders, and the Kurgan caliphate. Players begin the game with a single spaceship with which they can trade, become pirates, make war on their enemies, or undertake missions for some of the powerful people who inhabit the universe. As they travel between the Known Worlds (and beyond), they may amass wealth beyond measure, encounter creatures of myth and legend, become powers in their own rights, and even lead a true armada of their own.
"We designed the game to be as player-driven as possible," said Greenberg. "In the full game, players have the chance to determine their course as much as they like. While we introduce several story lines during the game, players can ignore these in order to focus on the aspects they like, be they trading, exploring the stars, or attacking other ships. Even the story lines change based on what the players do."
Noble Armada also features a realistic physics engine that lets players control every aspect of their spaceships' travel. In combat, players maneuver to line up their broadsides, try to blast their way through enemy shields, and then race to board their foes, ending the battle by seizing the enemy's bridge. The game's quest engine also gives players a great deal of freedom to modify and change the game, even to the point of adding their own quests and adventures.
Noble Armada Features:
Space strategy and role-playing in the Fading Suns Universe
Non-linear player-driven storyline
Command anywhere from a single ship to an armada!
Pursue a career of piracy, trade, or war.
Quest engine allows editing of in-game quests and adventures
